A/N: I'm back! No song this chapter for certain reasons that are Important. (Also, just to reiterate before starting, the TWs for this chapter are needles, violence, and implication of death). On that note, have fun reading guys, and once again, I missed you all! I'm sorry that this chapter's so grim, but things start looking up in the next one, I promise! :)

The following day, (after spending the night hanging out with my friends, and catching up on their lives), I woke up to a series of frantic texts from Gabe, which had started around 7:30 in the morning.

Gabe: Jess

Gabe: Jessica please

Gabe: Jessica there's a problem and i really think that you need to see this.

Aza's voice suddenly popped in.

"Hey," they said, "What's all this?"

I shook my head, and continued scrolling through the messages.

Gabe: Jess there's someone outside my home. mi uniform. not a drill.

"Dunno," I replied, my pulse racing a little faster as I continued to scroll, "This doesn't seem good, though."

Gabe: They talked to Leo and he just followed them. theyre not karma. not muzzy. not any of the former agents.

That was sent only five minutes beforehand at... eight ten. I had apparently woken up sooner than expected, and apparently just in time. The last text, sent two minutes before I had woken up, only read:

Gabe: jess when u wake up pls come over im scared

I awkwardly laughed, and cracked my knuckles.

"Hey Aza," I said, "I want to avoid going outside, can we just..."

There was a bright flash and a feeling of slight motion, before I popped into existence in Gabe's bedroom and fell on the floor. I picked myself off the ground, dusting myself off, and looked around. He was nowhere in sight.

"Gabe?" I softly called out, looking around the room, "Gabe, where are you?"

There was a soft rustle of movement from behind a closet door, and I cautiously opened the door. Gabe was in there, his eyes open wide in terror, and his wings crammed against the clothes stuffed in there. In the softest possible voice, he whispered,

"Jess, there's someone downstairs and it's not Leo. It's not Laurence, he left to go on a trip with his friends yesterday afternoon."

There was a loud thudding sound from the floor below, and my heart rate shot up. Electric blue flames enveloped my hands, and Aza quietly said,

"Sounds like an MI agent. Do you think you're ready?"

I shrugged weakly, and got ready to defend myself against whatever came next.

The stairs thudded as heavy boots marched up them, at least two or three people. I backed up, the flames now crackling with a nervous energy that matched my own heart rate. There was a pause as the boots reached the top, and then a voice, so bone-chillingly deep that it rattled my chest, growled,

"They're in the boy's room. The dark matter reader is going crazy. Come on, follow me."

Gabe's eyes widened even further, and I slowly started stepping away from the door, trying to think of where I could teleport. The woods didn't feel safe, HQ didn't sound safe, I couldn't teleport back to my home, and I most certainly didn't think I'd be capable of teleporting Gabe into space and having us both survive. That left one option: fight.
