"I've always been waiting for you."

Then he swooped down to meet her lips again.

Natasha was so glad to know Clint had always loved her, and loved her still. She smiled against his lips and felt him do the same as the droplets of water from their damp hair journeyed down the side of their faces and dripped off their chins.

Then the need for oxygen got in their way and they finally pulled apart, breathing heavily but smiling winsomely. They gazed into each other's eyes, seeing the vibrant hues swirling - a concoction of love, trust and promise. A warmth like the one they felt that night coursed through them even in the coldness of the pattering droplets.

After a while, the raindrops became smaller and less frequent as the clouds dispersed, like curtains being drawn open, the warm rays of sunshine making their resplendent entrance onto the palatial stage of the azure sky.

A magnificent arch of colours took centre stage between the clouds.

"Will you come back to New York with me?"

"I thought you'd never ask." Natasha smirked and Clint smiled radiantly, brushing his thumb over her cheek.

---------------------------------------------

Natasha and Clint spent the next 2 weeks together traveling around Auckland before deciding to head back to New York.

They took sweet and carefree strolls in Albert Park, hands interlocked like perfect puzzle pieces as yellowed leaves spiraled down from the tree tops and descended gently upon them and decorated the path like rose petals along the wedding aisle.

They paid a visit to Kitekite Falls, letting the wind carry droplets of mist from the splashback at the foot of the waterfall to cool their faces.

Then they wandered around the heart-shaped freshwater lake, Lake Pupuke, watching the golden dragonflies flutter and dart about the still water surface like little fairies. They sat by the wooden jetty as dusk crept across the purple sky.

Natasha felt contented, she felt loved. She melted into him. Her head rested comfortably in the crook of his shoulder and her shoulders completely relaxed as his muscular arm wrapped around her firmly. She could feel his heartbeat, and he could feel hers.

They felt closer than ever, like they were a single body, a single spirit, two hearts that beat together as one. And it would stay that way, forever and always.

---------------------------------------------

2 meaningful weeks were over before they knew it. Natasha and Clint were at the airport again, but not to say goodbye. Their hands wouldn't part again like last time, they could stay interlocked forever if they wanted.

Natasha hugged her parents, who have decided to stay in Auckland. Jerome and Rosa had went on ahead back to their mansion in New York to get everything ready to welcome Natasha home.

"We'll come visit you often, sweetie." Mrs Romanoff caressed Natasha's cheek and Mr Romanoff kissed her forehead. Natasha nodded and went back to join Clint.

It had been Clint's promise to take care of Natasha that made her parents allow her to go back on her own. He had sworn that he would not let anyone hurt her and would give her happiness.

They boarded the plane - the first time they were on one together, and settled comfortably into their seats.

As the plane took off, Clint placed his hand on Natasha's that was on her lap, and Natasha nestled her head on his shoulder.

It was the beginning of a new chapter of their life together.
