2 months later
Students were still considering options for college and sending in applications. Natasha had sent in her application and was now waiting for the posting.
Meanwhile, she spent her time taking Lucky for strolls in the park and going to book cafes.
Today, Natasha decided to head to her favourite book cafe situated at the corner of a street. She liked the cozy ambience there and found it a conducive reading environment.
Wearing Clint's hoodie, the one she had 'stolen' from him, she ambled lazily down the pavement towards the cafe. His hoodie had his familiar scent, and Natasha liked to imagine it as if she were in his arms, because that's where she belonged.
God, she missed him. It had been 2 months and there was no sign of Clint. Sometimes on the street, she would mistake someone else for him, just for a fleeting second. She could only hope he would come back soon.
Natasha pushed open the glass door and entered the book cafe. She took a seat at her favourite spot by the window and ordered a cup of hot chocolate. Then walking to the small white-painted wooden shelf, she picked up a book that was part of the feature books of the day.
The book was a detective novel, The Vintage Caper. It was about a wine stealer and the vin de table journey of a detective with the help of a French tour guide.
Natasha was swiftly drawn into the story and became so engrossed she didn't notice a figure passing by her from the other side of the glass window. A figure with dirty blond hair in a wheelchair.
The bell above the shop door tinkled but Natasha didn't hear it. The figure entered the small enclosed space and wheeled himself right next to her table.
"May I have a seat?" He asked.
"Yeah sure." Natasha said without looking up, thinking it was another avid book reader who couldn't find a seat in the tiny cafe.
The man didn't move. Natasha suddenly paused, snapped her head up, and turned to her right.
Her eyes widened.
She opened her mouth to speak but no words came out, tears built up in her eyes.
"Long time no see, Sweetheart." He smiled.
Natasha clamped her hands over her mouth and let the tears of joy flow.
"C-Clint..." She said in between sobs.
"Don't cry on our first meeting." He said warmly and dabbed her tears with the pads of his thumbs.
Natasha let out a genuine smile as her tears were dried.
Clint leaned over and placed a kiss on her forehead before wheeling himself opposite her, pushing the chair away.
"So, how have you been?" He asked, taking her hands in his over the table top.
"It's not the same without you."
"Same here." He smiled and rubbed his thumb over her hand.
"Was that book really so interesting that you didn't recognize my voice at first?" Clint smirked.
"It was the only thing interesting since you were gone." Natasha gave a lopsided smile.
"What's it about?" Clint asked, and Natasha spent the next few minutes telling Clint about the plot of the story, up till where she stopped reading.
The pair then discussed about the possible suspects and whether each plan mentioned by the detective would work. And finally they moved on to catching up for the time they'd been apart.
It was a light-hearted afternoon in the cozy little cafe.
A book. A cup of hot chocolate. A companion.

Just got your info, The Vintage Caper is a real book that I read. I was bored studying in my school library so I picked it up from the monthly librarian's choice shelf. I didn't borrow it but read it every time I was there. Sadly, before I could finish it, the librarian changed a new set of books and I was too lazy to search for it ꒰'•௰•' ꒱
