♥︎❁11❁♥︎ Valentine's day disaster

It was the day for romantic candle lit dinners and chocolates and roses and hearts - Valentine's day!

Natasha and Jane were at Pepper's house busy making cupcakes for their other half.

Clint, Thor and Tony were out shopping for gifts for the girls at the mall.

The girls were busy sculpting decorations to be put on the cupcakes with fondant icing while the cupcakes were in the oven. Pepper was making a mask-like thing with red and yellow icing.

"What's that?" Jane asked.

"Oh it's an iron man mask, as Tony calls it. He's been working on blueprints for an iron suit so I guess I could surprise him with his own creation." Pepper smiled, as she continued shaping the icing.

"What are you making, Jane?" Natasha asked.

"Thor's quite into Norse mythology and he had told me how fascinated he was with this magical hammer belonging to the God of Thunder so I'm making that for him. It's called Mjölnir I think." Jane finished the little hammer and smiled satisfyingly before placing it on a plate.

Natasha made a set of bow and arrows and she smiled thinking that Clint would love it, in addition to the watch she had gotten him, he'll be thrilled!

"What do you think the boys are getting us?" Jane asked, brimming with excitement.

"With Tony's credit card, we can expect something big." Pepper giggled.

"I really don't know what Clint's gonna get for me. He has given me so many gifts I feel like I want nothing more, all I want is just him." Natasha said without looking up, but smiling sweetly to herself.

"I'm sure he'll surprise you." Pepper patted her on the back, "I suppose Tony got the hint about the handbag I like when we were out shopping the other day."

"I don't know what to get for Pepper!" Tony yelled in frustration.

"Don't you think she would have given you a hint somehow." Clint suggested.

Tony ransacked his brain, searching every corner of the source of his genius, then shook his head, "nope." Pepper would have hit him if she had known!

"What are you getting for Jane?" He turned to Thor and asked.

"There was this book on astronomy that she liked, and it also mentions the nine realms, I think both of us would love it." Thor chuckled.

Tony pressed his lips together and nodded, unimpressed by the gift choice of his fellow friend.

"What about you,Clint? What are you getting for Natasha?"

"An album."

"An album?" Tony and Thor raised their eyebrows.

"Of love songs. So whenever I can't find the words to express my love for her, I'll play her a song."

"Oooohhh..." They both smiled and nodded in approval.

"I guess I'll get Pepper some chocolates."

"That's lame." Clint frowned, Thor agreed.

"Why don't you get her a bag? I heard girls love bags." Thor surprisingly made a logical and wise suggestion.

"I knew that." Tony proclaimed proudly before heading in the direction of Chanel, with Clint and Thor following behind and chuckling.

3 hours later, when Natasha, Jane and Pepper were packaging the cupcakes into beautifully designed boxes, Natasha's phone rang.

She cleaned her hands and headed to her bag that was on the couch. She fished out her phone and answered the call that was from Tony. Tony? Must have called to secretly ask about Pepper, she thought.

She held the phone to her ear and spoke, "Hello?"

Pepper and Jane watched Natasha from the kitchen, standing extremely still on the spot. Upon looking closely, they realised she was shivering, or quivering, they couldn't be sure.

Without warning, Natasha stuffed her phone into her bag, zipped it, and slipped carelessly into her sneakers, not bothering to fit her entire foot in or tie the laces. With that, she threw open the door and bolted out, not bothering to inform Pepper and Jane at all. Pepper and Jane looked at each other. Something was very wrong.

Natasha was by the roadside trying very hard to flag a cab. She stood rocking on the edge of the kerb, fist clenched and held to her mouth as tears threatened to spill from her emerald orbs. She tried to hold it in, to restrain, but as every second passed and cabs zoomed by without stopping, she grew very anxious and the tears trickled down her face in rivulets.

Her heart was plunging, her world was collapsing.

She quivered and began to whimper softly until Pepper and Jane had dashed out of the apartment and caught up with her.

"Natasha, what's wrong?" She turned around to face them, her tear stained face and bloodshot eyes a shock to them.

Just as she was about to answer, a black Mercedes pulled up and Jerome stepped out hastily. He had been running an errand and happened to pass by, he stopped the car when he saw Natasha by the kerb crying.

"Ms Natasha! What happened?" He held on to Natasha's shoulders and looked to Pepper and Jane for an answer but they shook their heads to show they were also trying to find out.

"Clint...." Natasha began to cry harder, and Jerome escorted her into the car, Pepper and Jane hopped into the back.

The car zoomed to the hospital.

Tony and Thor were pacing the corridor outside the operating theatre.

Tony had a hand to his chin and a grim expression set on his face while Thor looked equally worried.

Natasha, Jerome, Jane and Pepper dashed into the hospital and met up with Tony and Thor.

"How's Clint?! Is he okay?!" Natasha burst into tears, her voice laced with desperation.

"He's still in the operating theatre." Tony replied solemnly as Pepper came to his side and laced her fingers with his.

Thor went over to Natasha and pulled something out of the paper bag he had been holding.

It was an album of love songs.

The disc was split in two and partially covered with a red substance - Clint's blood.

Natasha broke down as she took the album from Thor and Jerome held her by her shoulders from behind.

Tears streamed down her face like waterfalls and she gasped for air between her crying. She felt her heart had been stabbed multiple times and she was left to bleed dry.

Natasha ended up kneeling on the floor hugging the disc and Jerome embraced her, allowing her to cry into his chest.

It was a heart wrenching scene.

"What happened?" Jane asked softly, with evidence of tears in her eyes, as Thor held her in his arms.
