After the book cafe, they left to take a stroll on the street.
They came to a bridge with a nice view over the water. Clint and Natasha stopped to admire the scenery.
Natasha smiled subtly as she gazed into the distance, propping her elbows on the ledge.
Then Natasha felt Clint tug on the edge of her (or his) hoodie.
She turned around and saw Clint looking at her with his wheelchair facing her.
"I want to show you something."
Natasha looked at him questioningly.
Clint gripped the handles of his wheelchair with both hands. Natasha saw he was exerting a lot of strength as she could see his veins protruding.
Clint was trying to push himself off the wheelchair.
Natasha was surprised and reached forward to help him.
"No, let me do it myself." He said with a puff.
She could clearly see that he was struggling but did as she was told and stood back.
Clint clenched his teeth and willed himself to stand.
Come on legs, don't bail out on me now after so much practice, he thought.
He managed to shift his trembling right foot forward an inch, and with all his might, he grabbed on to the ledge and hauled himself off the wheelchair.
Natasha's eyes widened. There he was, standing right in front of her.
Natasha felt a warm and fuzzy feeling in her heart, and let out an involuntary smile.
Clint attempted to take a few steps towards her but ended up falling forward.
Natasha caught him in her arms just as he fell.
The pair laughed softly and Clint wrapped his arms round Natasha.
"I can finally hug you like this, the right way, the way it should have been." He whispered into her ear and nuzzled her neck.
Natasha tightened her arms round Clint's back.
"So you've been practicing all this while? For me?" Natasha felt tears creep to her eyes.
"That's what I meant by loving you better, giving you what you deserve. You've never lost faith in me, so how could I let you down?" Clint replied affectionately.
"You know I won't love you any less just because you're in a wheelchair right?" Natasha pulled away slightly to look at Clint.
"I know. But I want to show you how much I love you and that I'd do anything for you. That's part of my promise." He said, tucking a lock of hair behind her ear.
Natasha grinned and pecked him on the cheek.
"That's not sincere enough for a reunion after so long." Clint teased, giving her a puppy dog look.
And so Natasha crashed her lips against his and initiated the kiss.
She moved her hands from where she was supporting Clint's back up to his neck and Clint swayed, almost falling down.
Natasha broke the kiss and swiftly held on to him.
"That's enough showing off for one day, back to your wheelchair before you hurt yourself." Natasha instructed with a grin.
"Yes ma'am." Clint gave her a salute with a goofy smile and kissed her one last time before returning to his wheelchair.
The couple continued on their stroll down the bridge and along the pavement.
Clint was humming a happy tune when Natasha interrupted him.
"You know something, Clint? I'll stay with you forever."
