"Stick with me, kid. I know this place like the back of my hand. *looks at his hand* Hey that's new." Fender, Robots
So we - Loki and I - are back in the lovely city of New York. I will admit that spending some time with Lillian was revitalizing and very much needed... However, Loki wasn't impressed. Like at all. He's been in a sour mood ever since we came back... But I wouldn't go back and change a single thing that we did. Okay maybe I would.
At the current moment in time, I was lying on my bed with my head resting against Zachery's stomach as he read a book out loud. I was amazed that he had stayed here on earth instead of going back to Asgard, but I think that's because he is trying to avoid the wrath of his mother.
Every time that he turned a page, he dropped his hand to the top of my head and gently ran his fingers through my hair. It made me sleepy and soon I could feel my eyes drooping as he continued to read to me and play with my hair. I tried desperately to keep my eyes open, I didn't want to fall asleep yet, in fact I don't even think that I wanted this moment to end. It allowed me to relax and not think of the ways that Loki might be picturing different ways to make my life hell.
"What's on your mind?" That was a trick question. It had been about 2 weeks since me and Loki had returned from Lillian's universe, and since then sometimes when I would look at my reflection in the mirror I noticed my eyes glowing a bright red. It had scared me the first time, making me drop my toothbrush and walk backwards only to fall into the bathtub. Talk about déjà vu. Luckily the towel that had been wrapped around me offered more cushioning than my bra had the first time I had done that.
"Nothing of importance." I replied in a sleepy haze as his fingers continued to run through my hair.
"You know you can tell me anything right?"
"Of course." I open my eyes and tilt my head to look at him.
"You seem to be deep in thought, that's all." I chuckle and turn my head back to its original position.
"You running your fingers through my hair makes me feel sleepy."
"Oh. I'll stop if you want." I could feel him starting to pull away from my head.
"No, it's okay, it feels nice." His hand stopped before his fingers continued twirling my hair. "Zachery?"
"Mmm?"
"Do you have any types of abilities?"
"You'll have to specify, because what you call an ability would probably be classified as a normal characteristic to me." I sigh and rub my face.
"Well if I was compare you to me, do you have anything 'special' about you?"
"There's plenty of things special about me... At least I like to think I'm special."
"That's not what I mean." I turn and give him an annoyed look. "Okay," I turn on my side so that I can see him better, my ear now resting on his stomach as we looked at each other "so you know how Loki has magic?" He nods. "Do you have something like that?"
"I suppose in a way you could call it that, but it's not magic, just common sense really. I make a lot of the herbal remedies that my mother uses, if you can call that magic then I guess I do have some abilities."
"My eyes glow red." I could tell that had caught him surprise as he stared at me. "I don't mean because of my Frost Giant genetics either, it's something that happens randomly and in all honesty I'm scared that whatever is happening is only getting stronger."
"I could get my mother to look at you, but I don't think you really want to go back there... Are there any people here that could help you?" I stared blankly at a place behind Zachery. I knew exactly who I could go to but whether I wanted to or not was the question.
