"Tell me my friend, have you ever danced with the devil in the pale moonlight?" The Joker, Batman (1989)
I almost laughed at Loki's misfortune. The key word there being almost... They had moved him to an unknown location, but I knew it was within the tower and guess who got assigned to look after him? Me. Honestly, if I had my own way, I wouldn't be anywhere near him. So I guess then the unknown location isn't exactly unknown... It's like the second basement or something. Tony's workshop is considered the first and then this dark and solitary place has about 20 feet of solid concrete between it and the his workshop.
Darkness doesn't bother me, which I guess is why I was assigned. There was only a bare minimum of light and that came from where Loki was. I sat in front of the caged wall and watched as he flickered around with his faint green lights. When I cleared my throat the light disappeared completely and he turned his head. The only thing I could see was his eyes that seemed to glow brighter in the dark.
"Well if it isn't Agent Holmes." His voice seemed harsh and had a slight hiss to it due to his anger. He had gone to referring to me as Agent Holmes ever since he was moved down here; which was a week ago by the way. I watched as his eyes rose and heard the telltale signs of him moving towards the bars. "Tell me. Was this originally what you wanted?"
"Now if memory serves me correctly, you brought this upon yourself. You could have kept your hands to yourself and you would be frolicking around invisible to everyone but me. You just had to touch my shoulder. So you can't say that this is what I wanted." He scoffed and rolled his eyes before they settled on me again.
"Open the cage and let me out." He ordered. I yawned and sat down on a chair and watched him.
"Sorry. Can't do that." I fake a cheery tone and heard him growl.
"Svala-"
"Why do you keep calling me that?"
"What?"
"Why do you keep calling me Svala?"
"It's your name."
"It's my MIDDLE name. My first name is Andrea." I heard a dark chuckle.
"That my dear is where you are wrong. You REAL first name is Svala and for a very good reason."
"What reason would that be?" I cross my arms across my chest and stare at him.
"Let me out and I'll explain."
"Yeah, no. You can explain it and then I'll think about it." He growled again, causing me to smile.
"Fine. Where should I begin then?" I shrug.
"You know more about it than I do. Assuming you're actually telling the truth." I saw his eyes roll again.
"Then I shall start from the start. Almost 18 years ago, there was quite the stir around the palace. The king and queen were expecting their second child. A girl they had been told. They were excited as was their son who was about 5 at the time. All was as it should have been until it came to having the child. The queen went into labor as an attack was brought to the realm. She was left with only her son by her side as the king helped fight off the hoards.
"The queen went through hours of pain to bring that girl into the world that she was to be born into. Only when the girl was born, the attacking army had almost reached the palace. She told the son to take the girl to the temple and to hide the girl and to make sure no one but he knew where to find her so that he could bring her back to the palace safely once the battle was over. He did as he was told, fearing for his sister's life and praying that no harm would come to her and that she would stay hidden from the enemy.
