"Your life does not get better by chance, it gets better by change." Jim Rohn

When morning came I had to wrestle myself out of Steven's hold so that I didn't wet the bed and then wandered down to the kitchen to make myself some coffee. Steven and I had spent most of the night awake talking about the job offer that his dad had given me over dinner. The one catch was that I would have to move to England to pursue the job. I wanted the job because it would give me something to do instead of watching House be the glorified jerk he is all day, every day. For a well-known assassin I was feeling rather useless at the moment. Fury had still not been taking any time to consider me going back into the field so I was just doing my part in ensuring I didn't go crazy in this Tower which was acting much like a prison at this stage.

"Fury wants to talk to you." I jump and drop my mug, which made a spectacular crashing sound when it hit the tiled floor, only to then see Romanoff standing in the doorway with a less-than-impressed look on her face.

"Thank you Natalie." Romanoff scowls at me as I walk past her. I make my way to Fury's office and don't bother knocking, instead barging right in only to stop in my tracks when I see the familiar face of Johnny Storm as well as a blonde haired woman with the same facial features as Johnny, a slightly taller guy who had greying brown hair and then there was this... Rock-man? I probably stared at him a little too long because he huffed and crossed his arms against his chest. I cleared my throat and looked towards Fury. "You wanted to see me?"

"Holmes. This is Jonathan Storm, his sister Susan" I knew they looked similar "Richards, her husband Reed and their associate Benjamin Grimm."

"Hi." Johnny smiles - obviously he already knew who I am - while I study Reed, Susan and Ben – choosing to focus more on Ben. It looked like if I was to put a hammer to him hard enough, he'd break into a pile of rubble. The idea was rather tempting. Every move he made was punctuated by the sound of grinding rock which I suppose was because he was made of rock. A throat clearing brought my attention away from the rock-man and I looked back at Fury. "What did you want to talk about?"

"I'm assigning you to the charge of these people."

"What?!"

"You'll be working with them."

"Why? What did I do? Is this some sort of punishment for some crime I've committed that I can't remember?"

"You are going with them so that you're doing something useful."

"Well maybe you should think about the last who knows how long where there have been plenty of opportunities to send me out to be what I've learnt since you brought me here. Instead you sent the red-haired dingbat and her flying monkey in my stead. You can't and won't just send me away with some other people because of your own faults."

"It's for the best."

"Well fuck you. You can't boss me around anymore Nick, I'm not your little soldier to command anymore. I quit. I'm leaving SHIELD, I'm leaving New York, I'm even leaving America and there is nothing you can do about it!" I turn and storm out of the room, running right into my brother who had a hurt look on his face. "Loki-"

"Were you going to tell me?"

"Loki I-"

"Were you going to tell me?" He repeated sternly.

"Of course I was! I would never have left without tell you where I was going in the first place." He looked as if he didn't believe me, which made me hurt inside. I step back from him before turning and running off. As luck wouldn't have it, the mess of the broken coffee mug wasn't cleaned up and I ran right over the mess. I didn't notice it until I got back to my room and sat on my bed. I lifted one foot at a time and pulled out the larger shards of ceramic as my bathroom door opened. Steven walked out with a pair of dark jeans and white shirt. His hair was tousled and wet as he'd had a shower. I looked back at my foot to continue taking the shards from my soles, my hand were shaking as my vision blurred with unshed tears.
