"Heaven has no rage like love to hatred turned, Nor hell a fury like a woman scorned." Zara, Act III, Scene VIII, William Shakespeare's 'The Mourning Bride' (1697)

Surprisingly, once I got used to it, it was really easy to ride a horse. Logan stayed right next to me atop his mount Carly. We had been talking almost the entire time that we rode. It was nice. Refreshing. Andres was a sweet horse. He reminded me a little of Frode. Of course when I rode him, it was either at a walk or at a canter.

At first it was just Logan and me, Andres and Carly walked along at a steady pace before their heads lifted and their ears perked up. I frowned and Logan looked behind us and pulled Carly to a stop. He had a smile on his face. I turned and looked as well, stopping Andres' forward motion, noticing another three horses - with riders - were making their way towards us. Two of the horses were Ajax and Badger. The third was a bay color with a white star on its forehead. As they got closer I noticed that it was Loki, Lois and Jared. They slowed their horses to a walk before coming to a complete stop behind us.

"I was wondering when you three would notice us missing." Logan says before quickly dismounting Carly and walking over to Ajax - who was being ridden by Lois.

"I'm surprised that you got her on a horse." I poke my tongue out at my brother and he chuckles in response.

"It's not like I haven't been on a horse before." Andres snorted and shook his mane while Carly started to relax, looking a little bored. Her eyes even closed a little.

"Yes but the last time you were on one, you weren't alone." I glared at Loki before ducking my head a bit. I hear Logan chuckle.

"It's not that much of a big deal. I wouldn't worry about it." As if all the horses were in sync, their heads all raised, ears alert. Even Andres seemed to be wired in to whatever had caught the attention of the other horses. Loki and Logan also seemed to be on high alert. This is bad... Very bad...

I watched my brother's face for anything that might tip me off about whatever it was they were sensing. However, I was soon answered when a girl, maybe a year or so older than me stumbled onto the path. Her jeans were tattered and torn, her presumably white shirt was covered in mud and red stains. When she spotted us, she stumbled backwards a few steps, eyes wide.

Loki got off his horse and walked over to the girl. Maybe it was a trick of the light but I swear I saw her expression change ever so slightly before it quickly reverted back to what it originally was. "Are you okay?" He asked the girl, who wasn't quite as tall as him but was still relatively tall. She nodded meekly before keeling over and grabbing her side. When she pulled her hand away, it was stained red. I quickly dismounted Andres before walking over to Loki and the girl.

"You're hurt." I state and she looks at me.

"Thank you, I hadn't noticed." She said through gritted teeth, obviously in pain.

"I can take you to a place to get you looked at." Loki said. The stranger's attention turned back to him and this time I definitely noticed a change in expression. She smiled at him, obviously trying to be sweet, but grimacing a little from the pain in her side.

"I would appreciate that." He helps her to his horse, also helping her get on his steed. When he was sure that she was situated nicely, he vaulted onto the horse behind her, leaving me with a gaping mouth. I had never seen him do something like that except for the time when I was on Frode and he was behind me. It seemed so strange seeing him do it to this woman. I wouldn't think that he would actually help her without making sure she wasn't dangerous and trying to trick him. Guess he's a grown man; he can take care of himself. I hope.
