“Hope. It is the only thing stronger than fear. A little hope is effective. A lot of hope is dangerous. A spark is fine, as long as it’s contained.” President Snow, The Hunger Games
Okay, now this is odd. I must be daydreaming now because I know I haven’t fallen asleep yet. Loki was still holding me in his arms, comforting me after I hurt Stella somehow. It was all rather complicated… For me at least. While I was still semi-conscious of my surroundings, I noticed the same woman from before. Sigyn or something was her name. She had a smirk on her face that sent shivers up my spine as she walked closer to me. “Loki, it’s her!” I tried to yell that anyway, but when I did, he didn’t seem to be able to hear me at all. Her smirk only grew as she advanced forwards. “Leave me alone!”
This time, she laughed. “There’s nothing you can do to stop me, Svala. Only time will tell and then destiny shall run its course.” I hugged Loki tighter, only he wasn’t there anymore, I was hugging air. I panicked, looking around for anything that could be a foothold, breaking the wall between my reality and this dream.
“LOKI!” I spin in circles, looking every direction and getting dizzy as a result. Tears pricked my eyes, but not out of sadness. Out of fear; fear that I would never see him or anyone else ever again. Suddenly the world started spinning and I held a hand to my head, blinking to try and clear the beautifully colored spots that dotted my vision. Sigyn walked closer. “Stand back, don’t come any closer.” It sounds like I’m drunk; slurring my words together. I shake my head to try and get a grip on what was happening only that it made my head pound. Groaning, I clutch my head in my hands, rubbing my temples. “Loki… It’s… H-Her…” I blacked out.
Tell you what, that was crazy. Opening, my eyes quickly, too quickly, I squint against a bright light, having to blink a few times to focus. I tried to sit up. That wasn’t happening in a hurry. Want to know why? I was strapped to a table! Or a bed… either one. Straps held each ankle, each wrist and one across my stomach. Looking around, I look at the room. Didn’t look familiar in any way; gleaming marble with silver and gold patterns etched into the smooth surface.
A low growl sounds from my right. Ever so slowly, I turn my head to see a large dog, staring at me. It didn’t look like a normal dog. It looked like it was maybe twice the size of Rex, the color of its coat blacker than black. “You’ll have to excuse Garmr, he normally guards the gates. He doesn’t quite know what to do with himself.” My head turns to see the familiar face of Hel.
“You… You’re H-Hel…”
“That I am. Quite nice to meet you in the flesh this time.”
“Am I dead?”
“Oh no, goodness no. I’m not that heartless. Mind you others will say differently. Anyway, what are you doing hanging around with Sigyn, she’s bad news.”
“Who?” My brain was refusing to work. I was dreaming before, I was sure of it… So I had no idea what I was doing tied to a table in a marble room.
“Sigyn. The woman who was kind enough to give you that ever so lovely mark across you face.” On instinct my hand raised to brush the mark, but I couldn’t move my wrist due to it being tied to the side of the table.
“I don’t know. Can you untie me?”
“Garmr. Out.” With a sharp yap, the dog bounded out of the room and Hel worked on untying me. Slowly, I sat up and got a better look around. “Sorry about that. If I hadn’t have chained you Garmr may have found himself a new chew thing to play with.”
I remained silent, my head hurt and I really wanted to go home. “Can you take me home?” I ask softly. She seemed deep in thought for a moment.
“I can’t take you back to Midgard, the route from here straight to there is a one way journey. I can take you to the Bifrost site and Heimdall can take you to Asgard. From there he can take you home.” My head started spinning again.
