Fifteen

Alex's p.o.v
I woke up in, once against my new room. I yawned and looked over next to me. My cousins Brady and Jackson were building something. I just met them yesterday and I already know that they're nerds.
"Good morning cousin." Brady said pushing his glasses up
Man that kid is weird.
I gave a wave. I put on a nike shirt and kakis. I slipped on red nike socks, to match my shirt with black slides.
"What is this you are wearing?" Jackson ask
"You need to dress nice for breakfast, then you must put on play cloths."
"No thanks, I'm good!" I said grabbing my basketball
How am I related to them.
I walked down stairs and smelt eggs,Or at least that is what I thought.
There was a dead duck sitting on the table. It was cooked, but a duck, really?
"Morning pumpkin!" Nancy said
I waved and started walking outside.
"It's not play time yet Alex!" She said
That's where the kids get there weird from.
"Oh, um I'm not that hungry, so I'm going to skip breakfast!"
"You sure?"
"Yea."
She nodded
I walked outside and Lauren was sitting on the barn bouncing a tennis ball. She actually seemed pretty normal.
"Hey!" I shouted
"Oh hey Alex!" She smiled
I climbed up on the barn.
"What are you doing up here?" I asked
"I come up here, to get away from my family."
I laughed.
"No, seriously. My dad is the only normal one and he is on a business trip. I'm stuck here with these freaks!"
"That don't seem that bad!" I said continuing to laugh
"Yea, sure. My brothers freaking think they're dexter and my mom still is living in the 1900's!"
"You've  seen dexters laboratory! That's so old!"
"I watched it a really long time ago,one time. As you can see we don't have a tv or Internet for that matter!"
"Wait, you guys don't have internet?!"
"Nope! I hate it here!"
"How am I going to  text Shelby!" I panicked
"Is that your girl friend?" She said in an annoying tone
"No, well, I don't really know. We kissed, then I left." I said putting my head down
"You kissed her! Or anyone for that matter!"
"Yea?"
"What, you're like 13 years old?"'
"Yea?"
"Dude! I'm 16 and never had my first kiss!"
"You never leave the house!" I laughed
"True. I begged my parents to send me to a public school, but my mom insisted that homeschooling was the best!"
"I feel bad for you!"
She rolled her eyes and did a sarcastic smirk.
"OH MY GOODNESS! CHILDREN, GET DOWN RIGHT NOW!"
I looked down to see Nancy about to have a heart attack.
We started to climb down and my foot slipped. I slid down the roof and landed on a pile of hay. My head started throbbing. My vision was a blur and I saw to figures standing in front of me. Soon my vision went black.

"Sugar muffin, are you ok?"
I woke up to Nancy holding a rag on my head.
"Yea, just a head ache."
I slowly sat up. Everyone was crowding me. I noticed a guy standing in the doorway. He walked toward me.
"Hey, I'm your uncle Matt. Your moms brother." He said holding out his hand
"Hey nice to meet you." I said shaking it
"I'm taking Lauren out to shoot some hoops in about an hour if you are feeling ok."
"Yea, I'd love too!" I said jumping up
"Great! Boys you sure you don't want to go!" He said looking at Brady and Jackson
"No thank you father, we're building a new replica of the pentagon!" Brady said with Jackson nodding
He nodded and turned around.
"Man they're freaks!" He said under his breath
I laughed to myself
I went to the kitchen and grabbed a cup of sweet tea.
"See, my dad is not that bad!"
I turned to see Lauren
"Yea, he seems cool!" I said setting my cup down
"Come outside."
I nodded and followed her outside
We sat on the porch
"Can you keep a secret?" She asked
"Sure!"
"Well, my dad told me that he was planning on divorcing my mom and taking me with him."
"What!?"
"Yea, he can't stand her and since Jackson and Brady aren't his real kids, he an just take me."
"They're not his?"
"No, they're adopted. They don't know yet though."
"They're 12 years old!"
"I know! It's so crazy! See, my moms sister died in a car accident and she was pregnant with them, they barely lived, but the emts did a emergency c-section and they survived. They had no where else to go, so mom took them in."
"Where's there dad?"
"He is in the army and doesn't care about them."
"Sounds like my mom except she's in jail not the army."
She looked down.
All of the sudden we heard yelling.
"Let's go kids!" Matt said busting through the door
"Where are we going?!" Lauren asked
"Away from her!" He snapped
"This is all your doings Mathew!" Nancy yelled
"Oh shut up!" He yelled
We followed him to his car and got in.
"Wait here, I'm going to get our cloths!"
