Annabeth's POV

"How about this one?" Hazel asked. I shook my head.

"Too flashy." I told her. We were currently looking for dresses for the dance. It's harder than it looks. Once you actually think you found the right dress you look at the price and you know that your dreams didn't come true.

"We tried on so many dresses already, just pick one already." She said. I rolled my eyes. She already found her dress, now she's rushing me.

"Okay let me find about 2 more dresses then we are good to go." I said. She nodded. We looked through the racks of dresses and finally one caught my eye.

"Go try it on." Hazel said. I smiled and went inside the dressing room. The dress came up to my knees. It was a red dress that almost was really flowly. The sleeves were long and it was lace. A black belt came with it also. I stepped out of the room and showed Hazel.

"What do you think?" I asked. She gave me a thumbs up.

"Beautiful. Now if we could just find you some pretty shoes to go with it." She said. I nodded. She walked over to the shoe department while I went to pay for the dress.

When I was done I went to find Hazel. She was at the counter paying for the shoes. She didn't even let me try it on. What if I don't like it?

"Let me see the shoes." I said. She took it out of the bag. Wow I stand corrected. It did go with it. Black high heels that I would have to learn to walk in.

"You like it?" She asked. I nodded.

"Okay, let's go home." I said. She nodded. Suddenly her face expression changed.

"What is it?" I asked.

"Annabeth...what if I said that your mom is near by?" She asked. My face expression also changed.

"Then I'd say let's get out of here." I said. We ran out of the store and into her car.

"That was close." She said. I nodded, and she drove off to her place. We went straight into her room. I laid on the bed next to her. It was really quiet. Nobody said anything. I wonder what she is thinking about.

"I wish it could always be like this." I said. She looked at me.

"Me too...but it can't." She said.

"Why not?" I asked. She sighed.

"You think that everything is supposed to have a happy ending. You know that in the end you will have to go back to your mom and your family." She said. I sat up straight.

"Hazel... You know I can never go back. I just can't. I rather live on the street than go back with them." I said.

"This is reality, Annabeth. What are you going to do when highschool ends?" She asked. I stood quiet. "Exactly."

"What is your problem?" I asked.

"My problem? I don't have any." She said

"Well it sure seems like it." I said. She rolled her eyes.

"And what do you think my problem is? I have a real home. A family who loves me. And i'm gonna make it somewhere after highschool. How about you?!" She shouted. Tears were streaming down my eyes.

"Well I thought I had you, but I guess I'll find some other place." I said.

"Wait Annabeth! Listen...I'm sorry. I don't exactly know what just have gotten over me." She said.

"You said what you had to say." I said. I grabbed my stuff quickly.

"Where will you go?" She asked. She has a good point. Where will I go? I guess I will walk wherever my feet takes me.

"See you never." I said as I headed out the door and ignoring her protests.

I guess my feet took me to the city's park. No body was here. There were no kids, no adults, no body. Just as I like it. I sat on the bench and laid my stuff on the ground. I took out my phone and decided to call Katie.

"Hello." I said.

"Oh hey Annabeth, what's up?" She asked. I took a deep breath.

"Do you mind if I would stay over at your house?" I asked. The line went silent.

"Well about that...My paretns kind of think that you are a bad influence on me soooo..."

"That's find, I get it." I said. I ended the call and called Clarisse. She told me that I could stay over. By the time I made it over to her house it was already 5.

"Hey come on in." She said.

"Thanks." I told her. She led me over to her room.

"Make yourself at home." She said.

"Are you sure your parents are okay with all of this?" I asked. She nodded.

"Yeah, and besides their never home." She said. I nodded.

"Okay, thank you again." I said.

"Stop thanking me. You would do the same for me." She said.

"Now I would." I answered. She glared at me.

"I'll be downstairs if you need me." She said. Once she was gone I called Percy.

"Hey Annabeth." He said.

"Hi Percy." I said.

"Not to be rude, but why did you call?" He asked.

"I just wanted to talk to you." I said.

"Okay..."

"You know you're the worse at conversations." I said.

"Thanks, you sure know how to start one yourselves." He said.

"Are you sassying me? Don't use that tone with me." I said.

"You just keep getting weirder and weirder."

"I know."

"Okay listen I have to go right now. I'll talk to you later." He said.

"Okay bye."

"Bye." I ended the call with a smile on my face.

"Who were you talking to." Clarisse asked. I turned around.

"No body." I said. She smirked.

"It was Percy wasn't it?"

"Yeah..." I answered.

"He's actually not that bad." She said.

"I know."
