Chapter 9

Annabeth's POV.

Yeah I should have listened to my mom. One turned into two and two turned into three and so on. Soon the house and smelled like smoke all over the place. Clarisse was sleeping on the couch. I woke her up, but then she got mad and said that she needed her beauty sleep.

I decided to explore her house. It was really nice. She had a lot of pictures of her family. Her dad and her look so much alike. And her mom and her have the same exact hair.

"What are you doing?" Clarisse asked behind me.

"Oh...I was just looking at your pictures. You look like your dad." I said. She walked next to me and crossed her arms.

"Yeah...everybody says that." She said.

"Are you two close?" I asked. She shrugged her shoulders.

"Not really....anyway, school was dismissed a hour ago. You better get home. You're gonna be in big trouble." Clarisse said. I groaned.

"Okay, see you tomorrow I guess. You coming to school tomorrow?" I asked.

"Yeah." She said. I nodded and headed out the door. I'm gonna be in so much trouble when I get home.

And when I entered into my house, everything was peaceful and quiet except for my mom's glare. She was sitting on the couch starring me away. I'll probably just make a run for it.

I raced up stairs and locked my door. Now she will never get me. I stood corrected. She came in my second that I forgot to lock. Way to go.

"I just want to talk, okay." She said.

'It's a trap, don't listen to her' an inner voice said.

"About what?" I asked. She crossed her arms.

"Have a seat." She said. I slowly sat down on my bed and she took a seat right next to me.

"Speak." I told her. She sighed.

"Well Annabeth...I love you so much, but you need to be controlled. And your father and I have been thinking..."

"What is it?" I asked.

"We decided to send you off to a boarding school. But just for a while. You'll come home when your behavior changes." She said. I was speechless. How can she do this to me.

"Of course you would do that. Of course. I knew that you didn't want me here. Now that you have your other children your done with me?!" I shouted.

"Annabeth that's not true." My mom said.

"You know what? Just get out! Then I wouldn't have to face you ever again. And I'm glad that I'm leaving this family. I hate you!" I yelled. There were tears in my mother's eyes. She stood up and left.

Why not leave now?

I gathered my belongings and stuffed them into a duffel bag. I grabbed some cash from my stash and headed downstairs. My family was downstairs and I guessed that they heard my conversation with our mom.

"Where are you going?" Ashley asked. I ignored her and walked straight up to Joanna.

"Bye baby, I won't be seeing you for a very long time. But know that I love you. Here take this." I said and took my necklace I got for my 8th birthday.

She cried and hugged me. I hugged her back, then left, while ignoring their protests.

I'm off to Hazel's house. I met her family before and they are such warm welcomers. And I'm sure they won't mind.

When I knocked on their door, her mother opened up.

"Oh well hello Annabeth. How are you?" She asked. I smiled at her.

"I'm doing fine. And I was wondering if I could ask you a favor." I said.

"Oh yes, any time." She said. I bit my lip nervously.

"Well see...I'm having family issues and..."

"Say no more. You are welcome to stay with us for awhile. "She said. I smiled at her.

"Thank you so much." I said.

"Well come on in my dear. Do you want something to eat?" She asked. I shook my head.

"No thanks, but thank you." I said. See? I can have manners.

"Hazel! Annabeth is here!" Mrs. Levesque said. Hazel came down stairs quickly.

"Hey Annie, what are you doing here?" Hazel asked.

"I'm staying here for awhile. Thanks to your mom " I said with a smile.

"I know my mom is awesome." She said. I laughed.

"Yeah, she pretty cool." I said.

"Well come up stairs with me." Hazel said. I followed her up stairs. Her room was really nice. The wall color was bluish purplish.

"So...what do you really do here?" I asked. She shrugegd her shoulders.

"Nothing really. I usually sleep or eat and that's about it." She said.

"Well your pretty skinny for someone who only sleeps and eat." I said. She smiled.

"Annabeth could you tell me why you are you? Not that I mind." She said. I sighed.

"Okay I'll tell you. So you see how my mom and I don't really get along, well she had enough of me and wants to give me up. Well send me off to boarding school until I change my behavior. And we all know that that is never going to happen." I told her. She nodded her head.

"Well that sucks." She said. I nodded.

"Anyway, all I have left is you, Katie and Clarisse. And I'm planning on to never to let you guys go." I said with a small grin.

"And you have Percy." She said. I raised my eyebrow.

"Uh Hazel...Percy and I are not together. We only went on one date and that was the end of it." I told her. She smirked.

"Doesn't seem like it. I saw you both in the the stairwell kissing." She said with a sly grin. I blushed.

"Did you hear anything I said?" I asked.

"Oh nothing just that you weren't lying and that he asked why he should trust you. And you were like 'Because you like me' And then you kissed him." She said. I punched her arm.

"You are evil." I said. She laughed then she stopped.

"Call him." She said. I shook my head.

"No way it'll be awkward." I told her. She smirked and then took my phone. I tried to snatch it back from her. She pressed call and put it on speaker. She put the phone near my mouth when he picked up.

Hey Percy this is Annabeth

Hey Annabeth. Not to be rude, but why are you calling me

Because...uh....I was wondering if you would like to go out again. You know start over and stuff

He hanged up the phone. I was so angry that I opened her window and threw my phone away.

"Annabeth, it's okay." Hazel said. Tears fell down my face.

"It'll never be okay."
