Chapter 20

Annabeth's POV.

Today is the day that my can change. It is the day of the talent show and almost the whole school is going. At this school we support each other in a lot of events. I have a lot of competition to keep my eye on.

It's 5:00 right now and I'm here with Katie getting ready. I warmed up my voice while Katie did my hair.

"Soooo...you think I will do good? Wait never mind, of course I'm gonna do great. I don't even know why I asked you." I bragged.

"You know sometimes you brag too much for your own good. I mean you aren't great at everything. For example You. Can't. Dance." She laughed and started off with my make up.

"What do you mean? I can dance. Ask my mom, she said that I'm really good. She said that when I was 9, but...I was still good." I defended myself.

"Yeah, okay whatever. So what are you wearing?" She asked. I shrugged my shoulders.

"Um...clothes." I answered. She sighed.

"Oh Annabeth, what would you do if I wasn't here?" She said and headed off to my closet. She searched my stuff and pulled things out and onto the floor. She pulled out a dress.

"I have never seen you in a dress before. It's pretty, why don't you wear this." She said. I shrugged my shoulders.

"Yeah okay whatever you think I should wear." I answered. She smiled and went back to my closet, and pulled out some heels.

"And how about this?" She asked. I don't really like wearing heels, but okay I guess.

"Um sure, why not." I said. I took the dress and the shoes and headed off to the bathroom. I stripped off my clothes and slipped on the dress. Thank goodness it still fitted perfectly. I put on the shoes and headed off to my room. When I got there she nodded in approval.

"You look really pretty. You're gonna sing the best and look the best so the judges can't say no." Katie said. I smiled.

"Thank you so much. Okay so i'm ready what time is it?" She checked her phone and told me.

"6:00. Shouldn't Percy be here by now?" She replied. I nodded.

"Yeah, I don't know where he is. But i'm sure he'll be here soon." I assured her. She nodded and then sat on my bed. I sat next to her and there we waited. About 15 minutes of waiting and I was done.

"Okay we waited long enough. My mom can give us a ride." I said and headed down the stairs with Katie at my heels. My mom was at the kitchen making a sandwich.

"Hey mom can you give us a ride to my school for the talent show?" I asked her.

"Wait that's today?!" She asked. Well she just won mom of the year award.

"Yes." Katie and I said at the same time.

"Well yeah of course. You look beautiful by the way, Annabeth." My mom said.

"Thanks. we should go now." I said. We were about to leave when we got a phone call. I walked up to the phone and picked it up.

"Hello?" I said.

"Hello, this is doctor Jan and I just wanted to inform you about Percy Jackson. Do you know him?"

"Uh...yeah I do. What's wrong?"I asked. There was a silence on the phone.

"Percy Jackson has currently been in an accident. A car accident. If you would like to see him you can. See you at the hospital." Then the line ended.

"Who was on the phone?" Katie asked.

"Nobody...let's go." I said and headed out the door regretting what I did.
