Ed led Maise to the room she would be staying in for the two weeks. "If you fail your test you'll be moving out," Ed said quietly. "...if you don't you'll stay here the rest of the time you spend here." Maise looked around, in the corner there sat a small desk (where she would be working on her art), a couch in the middle and a small bed in the opposite corner. She turned to Ed, "K, thanks Edward." She said politely. "Tell Alphonse thanks as well." Ed started down the hallway, but turned back back for one last question. "Hey, ah, Maise do you recall a Ling Yao?" She thought for a moment. "Greed?" She replied. "Yah, is he doing ok?" She stared at him wide eyed. "Sorry Ed, I don't know." She said shyly. "Oh, ok then, good luck on your test." He said disappointed. "Luck? Hah! What's that?" Edward smiled as he shut the door behind him.
"Now where's the public library?" She thought out loud as she walked the streets. "Aha!" She said, turning the corner. She walked into the library, looking up she saw tons of books filling every inch of the library. "Gosh, our library at home is tiny compared to this!" She thought. She grabbed a boatload of books, checked out, then practically dragged the two giant bags back to her room. Setting them into stacks of five, she pulled her favorite one out. It was titled, "Amestris; War Survivors" this was a fiction book, telling different stories of fake escapees and survivors in real Amestris wars. From there, she began to study. Any part of her book she found interesting she drew. By her last book she ran out of paper. Tired of studying, she finished her last drawing and took a short nap, on the floor with a pencil still her hand and art scattered around her.

Curious to see how far Maise has gotten in studying, Roy sent Hawkeye to check on her progress. Riza made her way to Maise's room and gently knocked on the door. When Maise didn't answer Riza slowly opened the and crept inside. Riza watched her step as she made it across the sea of graphite, to find herself looking over Maise. After watching her for a few minutes, Riza made her way to the small desk. She was surprised to find stacks of fiction books, instead of Amestris history books. "Oh, Mustang will have a lot to say about this!" She thought. "That poor little girl, she must be so lost without her parents." Now prepared to leave, Riza watched Maise one last time, then went on through the door.
