In the hospital bathroom, Maice stared at herself in the mirror biting her lip. She pulled her flannel sleeve down as she heard the door open. Evan peeked in as Maice slipped on her gloves. Smiling, she turned towards her, as she walked out. "Maice, are you okay?" Maice looked at her, a little shocked at her question. "I'm perfect, why do you ask?" Evan shrugged. "I don't know. You weren't fighting them like usual, and you've barely eaten anything." Evan sat on the bed and stared at the floor. Maice sat next to her and tilted her head onto her shoulder. "I'm fine as long as your fine." She said softly. They looked out the window for a few minutes, and as Maice closed her eyes Evan started describing the shapes of the clouds. This made her grin. Listening to Evan always made her smile, even on the worst days of her life. Soon the fun was over when Edward burst in. "I think I could've won if I didn't drink that milk on Friday!" He said. Alphonse clunked in behind him, Tilly getting lots of attention from him. Maice smiled and stood up. "What's up?" She asked, petting Tilly too. "I think I should've won!" He whined. "But you didn't." Maice said. "Yah, but I drank that milk on Friday and-" "But you didn't win!" They all said together. "And milk had nothing to do with you losing. Milk makes ya stronger, ya doof!" Evan giggled a little. "WHATS SO FUNNY?" Edward shouted. "Could've made you taller if you drank another glass." Alphonse held Edward back as Maice and Evan cracked up on the floor. "WHO YOU CALLING SO SMALL THEY COULD DROWN IN A PUDDLE?!?!" He yelled, his face bright red. After his little rant finished up Evan stood up. "Hey, Edward, Alphonse, think you could show me around? It's kinda getting boring sitting in three places all day." Ed shrugged. "We've got time, come on." He waved to them as he started out the door. Maice stood behind them, watching them leave. "You coming Maice?" She shook her head. "I think I'll take a nap." Evan tilted her head. "I thought you just did?" Maice grinned. "Would I rather, take a nap, or listen to your beautiful description of clouds?" Maice started to nod. "I'd choose listening to you talk anytime!" Evan smiled. "Thank you Maice, okay, see ya later!" Maice waved as she closed the door. Tilly jumped on the bed and crossed her legs. Maice sighed and grabbed two pieces of paper. On one, she drew a quick sketch, and on the other, a small note. Setting them on the bed, she grabbed her fathers hat, pocket knife, watch, and gloves and placed them next to the note. With that, she opened the window, and looked back at the door. She took a deep breath and scampered out the window, leaving Tilly behind.
On the train, Maice made her way to the middle, sitting down at the booth. The train started to move, slowly, with a few bumps in the start. Speeding up, it started to smooth out, making the ride cozier than before. Maice pulled her knees to her chest and stared out the window, a tear running down her face, the salty water singeing her skin. "I didn't want to leave," Maice mumbled. "I had to," she paused, taking in a long breath. "For you..."
