A month later
Work was hectic, and I didn't have time to look up and smell the roses. I had been on one date with a guy from where I use to work, but we had ended up being friends with no chemistry - from my side. I hadn't really seen Scott, because he had somehow been very busy travelling since New York. Patrick had led the entire project and we were concluding this week.
Chad was turning 30 and had a 200 plus party planned in Miami. He and Sarah were still seeing each other, and so with much persuasion Pam, Sarah and I headed down for the weekend on Friday after work.
Miami was humid and buzzing with excitement. Pam and I were also staying at Chad's, as Sarah told us the house was big enough for size. And when we arrived we agreed. I got my own room opposite Pam's which was designed in purple and grey and overlooked the ocean. Chad was a friendly host and was so excited to see us. There was a small Friday night dinner we had to make our way down to.
The "small" gathering ended up being a dinner for 20 people but it was nice to mingle and I found myself talking to Sean Austin from South Africa, who was working with Chad on their expansion.
Sean was very talkative and friendly and Pam and I enjoyed his jokes and humour. I decided to relax and drink the entire weekend because I needed to relax and I was in Miami - a cousin of Las Vegas.

The next day we all went on a cruise further up to an island and docked to swim and tan. Chad and Sarah disappeared under deck and I felt myself fight a little bit of envy of getting ravished.
"You know you could just find a guy and let him have you." Pam said watching my gaze.I flipped on my shades.
"I don't know how to do that." I admittedPam laughed. "Honey, trust me you do. We all have it in us."
We continued oogling the men that walked past us and I was thoroughly enjoying Pam's flirting and come-hither looks toward each man.
It was late in the day when it was time to go back and we all napped as the boat undocked. Chad's beach house had its own dock and as we woke to the shutting of the engine we could already see people gathered in their white attire sipping on cocktails and a dj that from far looked like David Guetta on the decks.
"Oh! The party has started without you already!" Sarah gasped pinching his cheeks.
"Babe, I should be the last one to arrive. Come let's go and get changed."
I shook my head, how could one live like this. People showing up and enjoying your house without you even there. But I guess with Chad being in the media business and having a studio in the mansion it was possible.
We all went to a designated house upstairs and changed. I wore a theme all-white dress that clung to my frame and let my hair loose. I was really excited. Or it may have been the effects of the bottomless glass I had been holding since we arrived. I could swear there was a waiter to every guest that was designated to refill your drink each time you were close to finishing it off. I giggled at the idea - definitely getting tipsy.
Pam burst into my room and pulled at my hand.
"Let's go get you fucked." She said.
I cringed. An hour later we were dancing with a few guys and I was really enjoying myself. Miami knew how to throw a party. Pam had already baited a guy from Brazil and he was very happy to oblige.
I started drinking water a few minutes later to stop the threatening drunkenness. Feeling the need to go to the bathroom - a nuisance and unavoidable symptom of intoxication - I headed into the house. Coming out, I saw Sarah and Chad with a few people on the balcony above and went up to join them.
