Connie's POV:

My hand is still tingling from Steven's hand, as we sit at the picnic table on the beach.

Quite music plays in the background as we all sit down. I try too hard not to trip or do anything embarrassing as I take a seat next to Steven. Garnet comes with Chicken on the plater. Pearl was having a civilized conversation with my mother while Amethyst was goofing off with my dad. Garnet slaps chicken on everyones plate.

" Dinner is served." she says. I feel awkward eating in front of Steven, so I take a bite when he isn't looking.

"So, uh, Steven is it? May I see this Stevonnie?" My dad asks. Steven stops with his fork half way to his mouth. He gives me a side glance. I shake my head and lead him up in front of everybody. I see Pearl's, Garnet's and Amethyst's faces. They were mixed with confusion and anger. Like they couldn't believe that humans found out about fusion.

I sigh and hold out my hand to Steven. He takes it, the he starts dancing with me to the music.

"What is the meaning of this?!" My dad shouts. he starts to get up but my mom grabs him and shakes her head.

When we see Steven's gem start to glow brighter, and brighter, at the last second he plants a soft, tender kiss on my cheek. I stand there in his arms, completely frozen and a wave of happiness flows over me. He looks at me with a panicked look, then a white light goes off.

Steven's POV:

I kissed her on the cheek and she didn't like it. I felt so embarrassed and hurt I felt like we should stop the fusion dance. But we needed to show her parents.

I stand there with our thick hair and short shirt on me. Connie coughs and starts to fiddle with our hair. I pull her hand away and and take it. I felt our face heat up.

Oh my god. Is she embarrassed by me?!

Stop Steven. I'm not embarrassed by you. I actually like you. If that doesn't make things more awkward.

I recoil. What? Wait I remember Garnet telling me about how fusions talk to each other through their mind, if they are in public. Nobody wants people to think that they talk to themselves.

I look at Connie's dad and see him look like someone stabbed him.

"W-what on earth.." he mutters.

"Dad, this is Stevonnie. She not a person. She's me and Steven fused together." Connie says.

"Connie, please tell me this isn't permeant."

"Nope. Unless we want it to be..." I say. Our Stevonnie form once again, heats up and fidgets.

"NO!" he shouts. That scare made us instantly de-fuse. Connie looks at me. I look at her. Her dad stands up and pulls her mom aside to talk. Connie walks over and sits at the ocean shore. I follow her and plop in the sand with her.

"Connie, about what you said.."

"No Steven, I understand if you don't return this feelings." She stares out at the sea with tears forming.

"No, no Connie! I do like you!" I quickly respond. She looks at me.

"Steven, I'm not talking about friendship anymore."

"I know." I lean closer to her. She leans closer to me. Soon we're inches from our faces touching. She closes her eyes and the only thing that could ruin this moment is when a large green figure burst from the ocean screaming,

"STEVEN! RUN!"
