Percy

The rest of the morning was a blur. I vaguely remember getting a detention in English and Social Studies. Finally, I run to the cafeteria for my favorite period, lunch. No learning, no reading, no teachers.

I enter the crowded cafeteria and look for a table. While walking around I see Peter and a few other people sitting at a table, I walk over to them.

"Do you mind if I sit here?" I ask Peter pointing to the empty seat next to him. He turns around and looks at me, then he smiles.

"Of course you can," he replies. Then talking to his friends he says, "Guys this is Percy. Percy this is Ava, Luke, Danny, Sam, MJ, and Harry," Peter points to a Latino girl, a buff African American boy, a boy with shoulder length blond hair, a boy with a mischievous smile on his face, a girl with long red hair, and a boy in a collar shirt.

"Hi, I'm Percy Jackson," I greet.

"Are you free after school, we're thinking of going for ice cream?" Peter asks.

"No sorry, I have detentions," I say pulling out four slips of paper.

"Me too, but wait when did you get the other two?" Peter says.

"In English and Social Studies," I reply.

"What did you do," Ava asks.

"Well I got the first one this morning for giving Flash a black eye, and saving Peter's sorry butt," I explain. "Then in Biology, Peter and I were talking. Next, in English I couldn't read the passage on the board because of my Dyslexia. Finally, in Social Studies the teacher yelled at me for not writing in English."

"You're the one that gave Flash that bruise? It's huge! I saw it in biology!" Ava exclaims.

"Yeah me too, but why weren't you writing in English in Social Studies?" MJ asks.

"Well I figured out that if a write in Greek it confuses my brain so much that I can read it easier than English," I explain. "Any more questions?" I ask.

"Nope," everyone replies. I open my paper bag to see what's for lunch. I have a sandwich and leftover cookies, I pull those out and start eating the sandwich.

"Why are the cookies blue?" Sam asks. Geez these people ask so many questions.

"It's an inside joke," I reply.

"What's the joke?" Ava asks. Seriously, you can't just take inside joke for an answer.

"Well my first step-dad said there was no such thing as blue food when my mom wanted blue food coloring for my birthday. So ever since my mom and I always make blue food," I explain sighing. Happy now?

"You're first step-dad? How many do you have?" Luke asks.

"Well there was my Gabe, the first one, and now Paul is my step-dad," I explain.

"So how about ice cream at five?" Peter asks.

"Sure, I'll have time to have detention and do homework," I reply.

"So, do you play and sports?" Sam asks.

"No," I reply.

"Seriously? You totally should!" Sam exclaims.

"Do you have a swim team?" I ask.

"No, but what about football?" he asks.

"No, and I probably get too many detentions to play sports," I reply as the bell rings for the next period. I say bye and go to Geometry.
