Chapter 21- Cheerleading and darkness combined.

My body felt limp still from the basketball practice, but I had a cheerleading tryout to go to and Lennie was there to assist me. Once we made it into the locker room I changed out of my sweaty basketball clothes and into a sports bra and Nike shorts, ready for my tryout.

"You better do good, then I can go around and say my best friend in on the cheer squad. Or I could do an article on you!" Lennie boasted "Sierra Lawson, top of her game, literally"

I laughed and took her by the arm "Whatever pleases you"

She starts to walk with me still attached to her arm "This pleases me, I finally have a girl best friend that I can share all my secrets with and talk about boys!"

"You sound like a 10 year old"

"Well when you have grown up around boys and boys are mainly our best friends it differs the point"

"At least you grew up around people your own age, I spent my first teen years away from everybody!" I exclaim.

"I can't image what you went through" She sighs.

I smile and stop where I stood, the cheerleaders were in front of me now approaching us "It's over now"

She nods and unlinks our arms sending her to drift off to the bleachers once again where she watches from the sidelines with her notepad sitting on her lap like her baby.

Shannon smiles at me through her perfectly white teeth that show no signs of what was once braces. "Sierra Rose! Finally! The girls are absolutely going to love you, just be yourself of course with your movements of course. So show them what you truly have!" She says in her oh-so-perky voice that makes her annoyingly happy.

"Perfect" I mumble.

She grabs my shoulders and pushes me towards the other cheerleaders who are all poised with ease on the bleachers staring into their silver and copper mirrors with also touching up their makeup.

Once the girls spot me their eyes light up, each one of them is like an individual. All of em in different shapes and sizes, unlike the usual superficial cheerleaders. One girl who looks like a new freshmen had her hair dyed a pale purple that is tied up in a messy know with a flower headband.

Shannon sits down on the bleachers opposite me and signals for me to start,I stand immediately still and start by doing a cartwheel.

Then several twists and turns that slowly become synchronised along with a flip that allows me to see everything up close as I do so.

I do many flips, front and back, twists and turns until I slowly start to feel my spins turn into a blazing mess.

I stay still for a single moment before plummeting into another flip that slowly turns into a double flip.

"Thank you Sierra Rose!" A girl shouts.

I stop myself as I hit the floor. My palms are sweaty and filled with the dust that is collected on my palms along with my vision. My vision remains intact, all of the dust that I had collected lies close to my shirt that is unseen by a normal human naked eye.

"See I told you girls she's perfect!"

"Maybe too perfect" A blonde haired girl said as she approached me. Her blonde hair was tied up perfectly in a high pony tail, her cheerleading uniform was nicely pressed as if it had just come from the dry cleaning. As the girl approached me she swayed her hips in an unlikely fashion that made the other girls watch her oh-so-carefully. "I'm Elise" She says "Captain of the cheerleading team"

"Well I'm-" I began.

"I know who you are" She cuts in "Everybody knows who you are in Amercia. Just because you're little miss perfect who thinks she so good at gymnastics can get on to my team. Being on the team takes dedication, you don't just show up and show you're moves like it's every bodies business"

"Elise we discussed this" Shannon whined.

"I know we did Shan, but I don't know about her. Sierra how can you prove yourself?" She says.

I thought deeply, a party? Access to the labs?

"Oh oh!" Shannon bounces "How about a picture if that White Widow chick!"

Elise nods "How about you get a picture with White Widow?"

I smile "Easy"

How wrong would I be?

As I get home later that day, the house is silent. Bernie brings a small amount of plastic bags filled with food through the door was we settle in. "Ms Lawson, you're parents are working late. They told me to tell you they are hosting a dinner party Saturday night which you will be attending" He says.

I nod and slowly make my way to the stairs "Thank you Bernie" I tell him.

"Ms Lawson, they also told me to remind you two old friends are paying a visit at the dinner party too" He adds.

"Did my parents mention who?" I ask.

He shook his head "No Miss"

I slowly then descend up the stairs, and go carefully up the stairs with the amount of books that I have to carry to and from school. Once I made my way up to the first flight of stairs I thrusted the chunky doors open to the patio and flung my bags onto the chairs next to me.

The patio faced New York City, even on a sunny day like this the sun had reflected on to the buildings sending them into a light up Christmas tree. As I lay against the patio wall I heard a faint breath.

It was heard to make out, I dared not to turn around suspecting it was only Bernie telling me what we were to have for dinner. But as the breaths continued becoming much more louder I knew it was Bernie.

I flipped myself around in a heartbeat, my hands were paused out in the position that was used to shoot out my webs.

Only I was to face James.

"Woah sunshine I can't believe it took you that long to notice" He smiled.

"How did you get in?" I ask crossing my arms in a rushed voice. "That doesn't even matter, what the hell?"

He smiles, not in a flirtatious way, but he smiles evilly.

"Calm down Sierra" James says waving his arms. "The door was open, so I just let myself in"

I slowly start to regain my own breaths again before I start to ask the questions again. "What are you even doing here?" I question as he starts to edge his arm towards me.

"Before the questions start to roll out I have a few propositions to make. Now this is to be kept strictly between us, understand?"

I slowly nod at his response. What did the boy want now?

"First, I know you're White Widow" He says cooly.

My eyes widen, reality hits me. I start to freak out, I move away from his and back towards the chairs. He follows after me and grabs my wrist "Sierra! I haven't finished yet! Next is the offering I'm going to make in exchange for knowing your secret"       He says it like my secret is a dirty word. Like who I am now is like a scandal that's worth the world to knowing, which is exactly it.

"Listen, the exchange in me knowing your secret requires some terms. In order for me to keep quiet we are going to become a couple? Why you may ask, is my fathers company is starting to turn into dept. He is having all this stress, and bad press. But to turn it around with your parents help in Arachnids we can create biological weapons that could change the world. We will be seen together publicly at your parents dinner party, officially" James explains.

I am stunned by his words, I gulp and take all of it in. How did he know? Why did we want this? What were the motives? Was he an ally of Tyler? "What if I decide not to?" I ask in a quiet voice.

"The world will know who you are Sierra" He whispers in my ear "And then you truly will be feared"
