Chapter 29- Jem and Rosie
James took the first punch, heading straight for Peters head. He managed to know him on the side of his chin, as I tried to break it up a small crowd had gathered around the boys shouting "Fight!"
"Lennie!" I shouted. In an instant the girl appeared by my side "These two douches need separating!"
She nodded and we dove into the crowd of people, I wedged my way in through with Lennie gripping to my arm beside me. Then i appeared between the boys, putting my hands out in front of the boys "Knock it off! You guys are supposed to be best friends!" I shouted at them.
"He betrayed me! He did this out of jealousy!" James shouted trying to take a lunge.
Immediately I reacted, taking hold of his arms and pulling him back like a doll. He was so weak next to me, Peter stood a few meres back, with Lennie holding on to his shoulders. "James I'm sorry!" Peter said "I was just caught up in the moment and forgot about what would happen!"
"Don't say another word to me" He growled trying to break free of my grip. "Sierra let me go"
"No, we're getting of here until you calm down" I say thrusting his bag over my shoulder. I take his hand and pull him out of the crowd, pulling him at such a force that he dares not to retreat. I pull him out of the building and we walk along the streets before catching a cab along the narrow streets. As we get in to a cab he sits at the opposite end "SLA please" I say to the driver, he grunts. "I can't believe you honestly did that to him"
James laughs "He kissed you, how else was I supposed to act?"
"You don't even like me in that way, and you go full on at him?" I whisper.
"I thought it was the best thing to do" He says.
"No the best thing for you to do was talk it out with me, Peter didn't deserve that!"
He folds his arms and stares out of the window "Where are we going anyway?"
"My parents building, you are going to stay there with me until we sort this out and I have business to attend to" I explain, I try to reach for his arm but he pulls away. "I don't get what the big deal was, it was one kiss"
He grunts and finally we pull up to the building. "What are we doing here?"
"I told you, I have business to attend to"
"Your kind of business is different from mine" He grumbled as he opened the door to his side, he stepped out quickly forgetting about me inside. I handed the cash over and opened my door, James had already helped to himself by walking into the building by himself leaving me to trail after him.
I pushed the revolving doors around and walked by James in silence. We slid though security dodging past the lazy guards and huddled up towards the stairs. Once we made it to the first floor I walked down a long narrow corridor with James on my heels. "Okay Sierra you are freaking me out now what are we really doing here?" He asked catching on to my wrist.
I turned around with my wrist attached to his hand "I'm here because of a certain villain, this villain wants my DNA, blood samples and Aranea's venom. Because this villain needs more of this stuff to help him, and what I gathered is he is dying. But like you he has something on me, he can get everybody I ever loved involved and that can't happen" I explain.
"Sierra, why are you telling me this?" He asked as he let go of my wrist.
"Because, you're somebody I don't love" I snapped.
He took hold of my shoulders "The same goes for me too. I don't know who would love you in that way"
"Peter does"
He laughed "But do you love him?"
"That's none of your business!" I screamed, as I let the surge of anger run cold through my body a small crowd turned into our direction. Their faces were full of disgust, one members of the small crowd had put their fingers up to their lips.
James scowled and took hold to my arm, with him on my grip I smiled and pulled his arm along mine. Together we walked along the narrow white halls, going through twists and turns until we came to a small laboratory. "Please, can you just tell me what the hell we are doing here? Properly?" James pleaded, letting go of my grip. I gestured to the laboratory, the small block windows stood out showing through the complex lab. "Yeah, so what?" He said.
I smiled, the corner of my lips curling into a small sly smile the devil or Widow was coming through me. "I have a week left, a week before a certain 'friend' gets what he wants. But what he wants is the venom that runs through my blood, I don't know much about extracting this venom but you're going to help me. The venom that runs through my blood is different to the current Aranea, the venom that runs through Tyler's blood is killing him"
"Let him die then!" James said gripping hold of the doorknob "Let him die and this will be over, otherwise you're just giving Tyler what he wants"
"Why do you care so much?" I asked as he turned the doorknob, he opened the door with little force letting the cold air rush into the lab. I stalked inside, there were rows and rows of microscopes, dead spiders placed into special containers and small needles. A cold chill ran down my spine, I shivered at the sight. Large complex computers lined up one side of the room, all blank. "Get me a needle, you need to take my blood out then I can handle it from there"
He nodded, moving slowly over to the boxes of needles lines with injectors. He picked up a needle and examined it like he was some kind of doctor. I rolled my sleeve up and sat on a chair close to the stack of needles. "Are you sure?" He hesitated at the needle, I nodded and pointed to my long coarse vein.
"I'm positive, I need this James" I say facing him.
"Please Sierra" He sighs looking into my eyes, his warm brown eyes were wore away by what was a harsh history, there were once bags under this eyes but now they remained no more. "From now on you can call me Jem, that's my childhood nickname" He says.
I smile and place my small hand on to his large muscular arm "Rosie and Jem" I laughed "How about that?"
