Chapter 7- SLA

Chapter 7

When the field trip comes Lennie is the most excited, she is not excited to see how everything is at SLA, Lennie is only excited to see my parents and plans to ditch me so i can get to know Peter better. When she meets me at 5th avenue, we walk together as the SLA is on the 36th street. She explains her plan to me over and over "We ditch halfway through the tour" She begins.

I cut in "By 'we' i hope you mean you and James. Peter wouldn't do anything like that, he wants to learn about Arachnology and i'm planning to help him out"

"Well, thats somethin'. You and Peter would make such a cute couple, you're both nerdy and good looking so it's the perfect fit! You can be nerdy together without having to bother us about your science crap. Because let's be honest nobody wants to know how cross-based genetics worked" She says.

I roll my eyes and watch the world go by, cars race past us, the honking hurts my ears, middle aged men and woman roam the streets dressed in suits with their phones glued to their ear. When another car honks past us i cover my ears and nearly drop to the floor "Man, you do have sensitive hearing. Maybe you should have that checked out" She tells me.

I shake my head "It's always been like that"

When we get to the building, we both are stunned. It's the first time i have seen the building, i take a second to worry about how much the building costed until i floats away. The world comes to a stand still, the building looks down to me, i notice every detail, every mark that have been made. I shake my head to snap out of it, the world then comes back.

We walk across the street and meet up with everybody, our teacher Miss Donelly was handing out the passes we walked up to her and she handed us a pass with our names on it. I pinned it on and Lennie and I found Peter.

"Right class! I want you on your best behaviour, we will split up into two groups. All the students with grades A- and above will go with me, and all the students below will go with Mr Forman!" Miss Donnelly said.

Lennie's face fell, she and James were in the other group but Peter and I were together. I walked to the separate group, thankfully the people I liked were on the group I was on and that was only Peter. We stood in the groups and were escorted inside, inside the building was bigger than I expected. A screen was the top explaining the work behind Dr and Dr Lawson, how they started it up and all that crap.

A guy dressed in a lab coat who couldn't have been older than 18 was holding a clipboard and waiting for us. The girls all smiled, I kept my head down and covered up my badge. My name was in big lettering as anybody else's, but I knew I would be given looks.

"Hello everybody, my name is Tyler Garcia and I will be your tour guide today. A little bit of information for you I'm a senior at Madison Arts High, and working as a apprentice here. Even though we haven't been open up long we are achieving our goals with the spiders that Dr and Dr Lawson have mutated" The guy says "Now we will be going up to the genetics lab where we will see how we extract the DNA of a regular house spider"

Some groan, I keep my head down Peter looks and me and cocks his head "What's up with you?" He asks.

"Oh you know, this is my parents building and people have been wondering where I have been for many years. So it's best to keep my head down" I explain.

Peter nods, and then we are guided up the stairs to where we would see the genetics lab. The whole building was white, no smudge marks on the side, even the stairs were white Peter was fascinated by the building.

Once we made it up to the genetics lab, it was a very large room with glass along the sides, needles and harmful chemicals were lined up on the side. "Now 3 years ago, before SLA was shut down they had created 5 spiders. These spiders live in a very secure compound in the building, but before it shut down Dr Hannah Lawson created a brand new spider known as Aranea,

"This spider was genetically mutated from all the other 5 spiders to create the sixth one. In it's DNA contained Dr Hannah's blood, as we needed human DNA to create the extreme code. Unfortunately before Sierra disappeared Aranea disappeared too as she had escaped from her cage and was never seen again. But Dr and Dr Lawson have tried to create a brand new Aranea, they have created one which we will see in a minute but the attempts to create the exact same one have failed" Tyler explained.

Peter stared at me "What are you not telling us?"

"Nothin'"

"Can anybody name me the 5 spiders?" Tyler asked.

"The five were all the names of strength, speed, web, hearing and climbing. They put all of them into latin" I said.

Everybody turned to my direction, I looked up to face the guy "And you are....?" He says.

"Sierra" I say.

"Lawson" Miss Donnelly adds on.

I cringe, and shrug "Yes, I'm her"

He smiles "Nice to see you're alive"

The group laughs, Peter doesn't, I smile and hold my head high Tyler then proceeds "Why don't we go see the new modified version of Aranea?"

The group cheers and then Tyler directs us to another room, Peter and I walk side by side each other. Once we make it to the other small room, I amazed once again. Tyler walks over to the small glass box, then I remember how it used to be Aranea's box was large he was a different colour to before of now he was all black with a white streak down his small spine.

Tyler opens up the glass door "I don't think that's a good idea" I say.

"And what makes you think that?" He says.

I shrug, he opens the door and puts on one glove, I watch him he pulls Aranea out and smiles "Aranea is now a female as before she was a male but we have to modify her"

Tyler smiles at the spider "and now we can proceed to the consultation rooms where we can take a short break." I nod, the group then starts to depart. I watch Tyler put the spider back inside, but then he grabs her in his bare hand.

He moves round to his hand, and then Aranea bites into it. Tyler only flinches, I run over to him "You okay?" I say.

He keeps his mouth shut and puts Aranea inside the glass box "Right as rain"

I look at where he was bitten, I worry then, the bite is very large and swollen much like mine was. Tyler smiles and covers his bite "Maybe you should have that checked out"

Hey guys this chapter is very slow and I'm gonna start to pick up the place and I'm so sorry about it.
Now we already have one chapter to start this whole story I have will now start getting into what we are all waiting for.
