Chapter 9- Dumb Ballerina

It was a clear, bright day. But not so bright for me I suppose.

As soon as I went upstairs to my room after having breakfast, I saw that my phone (Jackie's phone sure was expensive; thank God it didn't have any password) was beeping. Picking it up, I noticed a message. It was from 'My Hero'(Jackie was sucking girlfriend, I can tell)

It said: ''Hey i'm gonna be w8ting outside yr house around noon. Be ready 'cuz we're gonna go 2 Pearlhouse studio fr prctise''

Now what kind of a name is 'Pearlhouse'? Like it's a house made out of pearls or what? Or do they culture oysters? Pearlhouse. It's so damn annoying.

Or maybe, everything had started to look annoying to me on that particular day.

"What do I do now then?" I asked myself. "Let me try out some dance moves"

Moving my hands and legs in all ways I could, I danced to Taylor's Shake It Off. It felt really nice and I'm sure that I danced quite well.

Well, the second part was sarcastic,in case you didn't get it.

At last, exhausted, I made my way to the washroom but stopped to listen to a scratching sound coming from the door of the room.

"Hey! What the...?!" I yelled as the four-legged beast jumped up on me as soon as I opened the door.

I tried to get him off my face but he was just so adamant! It was like magnetic attraction between the two of us.

Finally, after a lot of struggle, I succeeded and held the dog in mid air, right in front of me. The creature had a name right? What was it? Umm...Yeah! Rob.

"What's your problem dude?" I shouted. In reply, Rob just let out a pitiful bark.

"Aww...don't bark like that, it makes me sad" I said, setting him down. "You know I'm not a doggie person. Maybe Jackie was but I'm not. So you gotta hangout with Mrs. Johnson for now buddy"

I gave him a pat and stood up. At the door Jasper stood in front of me. Holy shit!

"What are you doing here? You should've knocked at least!" I exclaimed.

"I was honking my way out but you didn't come so I decided to come inside" he shrugged.

When did he honk? I didn't even notice!

"Were you...umm..were you just talking with the dog?" he asked, trying really hard not to laugh, successfully managing to look like an unevolved human.

"Yes, so?"  said with as much dignity as I could muster. "People talk to their pets don't they?"

"No, it was like he was your boyfriend and you were....." Before he could finish, he burst out laughing.

Like really?

"Shut up Jasper!" I shouted as I threw a cushion at him. "I'll be ready in a minute"

"Yeah, yeah" he said, still laughing like a psycho.

********************

It took us twenty minutes or so to reach the studio. It looked quite nice considering its name! We entered through the pink little door and a man with a ridiculous voice welcomed us.

"Hello young man and young lady" he said in his dry voice. He gave so much emphasis on the 'hello' that it sounded like-helloowh.

"Hi Carter" Jasper greeted. "We're here for the dance practise I told you about"

"Oh, I see. As far as I remember you wanted to prepare a contemporary act right?" he asked.

"Yes" Jesse replied. Now hold on a minute. Contemporary? There was only one thing on my mind: I'm doomed.

"Maybe you can do your previous act" Carter suggested. "I'll improvise it at some parts..."

"No" I said as Jasper said, "Sounds good..." I didn't even know what the previous act was!

Carter and he both looked at me.

"I-I mean to say, how many times will we do the same act? Lets try something new, something exciting"

"Okay madam" Carter said, laughing. "Get ready then"

"Ready to get doomed you mean?" I muttered under my breath.

"What?" Jasper asked curiously.

"Nothing, nothing" I replied quickly, flashing a fake smile.

After one hour of practise with comments like 'Not like this, do it this way!', 'This is not the posture young lady', 'You're ruining it!' from Carter and stern looks from Jasper, we decided to pack up. I was so scared to even utter a single word. I knew it was a bad practise.

Or maybe the correct word would be: Disastrous.

Back in the car, Jasper and I didn't talk even a bit. It was dead silent.

"What the hell were you doing back there?" Jasper asked suddenly which made me jump a little bit.

"I... I'm sorry" that was all I could say.

"You were acting like a complete non-dancer" he said. His temper was showing clearly as his jaws tightened.

"I'll do better next time, I promise"

Jasper didn't say anything in reply.

At last, we reached my house and to be frank, I was quite relieved. Jasper looked dangerous! That's the only word to describe him.

I quietly got out of the car and turned around to see if he would say a goodbye. But without saying anything, he drove away in speed.

I sighed sadly and got inside the house. Jasper was damn serious about the competition and if we somehow lose because of me, well I didn't know what he'd do.
