Chapter 23- Blissful Awakening

An evil grin crept on her face as she came closer towards me, making me back away in fear.

"Nobody's gonna be with you now" Sharon stated. "You have to be lonely and miserable forever"

Saying this, she let out an ugly laugh.

"That's right" I heard another voice, which was definitely not a girl's. "Nobody wants to be with a double crosser"

Jasper's face came into my vision out of nowhere. I jumped up, extremely startled and took a few timid steps back. But then, I found myself falling from the cliff on the verge of which I was standing just a while ago...

... Only, I wasn't falling. Someone had caught my hand- Jasper.

"I wish I could save you" he said with a slight pout. He looked into my eyes for a long time, as I held on to his strong hands. "But that won't be fair would that?"

And with those words, he let go. And I fell for real this time as I heard my own voice screaming 'No!' echo among the mountains. . . .

. . . - TRIIIING TRIIIIING TRIIIING!

Out of nowhere, a ringing sound started blaring out which caused me to sit up straight at once with much speed- as much as a lazy tortoise like me can gather after crying till three o'clock in the morning.

Gosh, what a nightmare. . .

. . .- But wait.

The feel of the bed was different- it wasn't ultra soft anymore. I looked around in utter astonishment. It was dark at first, but somehow my vision was adjusted to the darkness.

The room was small- at least, smaller than that of Jackie's. The windows were on the right side of the bed where I was sitting and had long curtains hung over them and below them, a couch was resting. There was a table right across the room beside which there was an old teddy bear- its head slumping down like it was drunk or something. Towards my left was a wardrobe and a small washroom door near it. . .--

-- And then I realized.

My room. It was literally my own room. My bed. My house.

A thrill rushed through my veins and I told myself it wasn't just a dream. I mean, it couldn't be a dream! And somewhere deep down, I knew it wasn't.

I removed the fluffy Spongebob themed blanket (my favorite one) to one side and climbed out of the bed in a hurry. I put on my slippers and rushed into the washroom and found myself gaping at the mirror above the basin. . .

. . . . This time, Jackie wasn't staring back at me. Instead, there was a girl whose eyes were a shade of dark brown; her nose was small and her lips were slowly curling upwards; her brown hair was sticking out in all directions possible. On the side I could see a weirdly cut chunk of short hair poking out. . .-

-. . . Me.

It was me. I was back! I was no longer Jackie Johnson...

A feeling of dejá vu filled my mind as I pinched myself, just to make sure this was real. Like, really real.
