Chapter 10- Mystery Man?
As I made my steps from the bus stop towards my house, a drop of sweat fell upon my eyelid. Gosh, it was quite hot and I was sweating all day like a pig.
I was totally exhausted. Not because of the long, tiring day at school, but because of the pretence. I mean like, for how long can one pretend to be someone who is completely different from her? It was like living in a prison (Well, excluding the boyfriend part of course)
- I was regretting ever making the wish.
For a moment, I just stood still on the sidewalk. People brushed passed me. There was only one thing on my mind- The wish. I was regretting it right? So maybe- just maybe- I could change back now? Maybe if I wait for some time, I'll change back to my old self?
I waited as I tried to control the thrill of happiness running through my veins. Finally!
I waited for five minutes. Ten minutes. Twenty minutes. Nothing happened. People were now starting to look at me like I was some psychotic clown. Right then I noticed a poster stuck on the walls of the street. It said- Just wait till the right time comes...
Why yes of course! I can wait for like, a billion years for the so-called right time, can't I?, I shouted silently and continued my walk.
On reaching home, I noticed an expensive black car parked nearby. It gleamed under the sunshine.
Great, so we now have guests!
I entered through the door which was already ajar. I started to run up to my room as always but stopped to listen to a murmur of voices.
"It's been a year..." the female voice- which was probably Mrs. Johnson's- said tonelessly. It was coming from the kitchen.
For some reason, I decided to stay and listen to the whole conversation.
"Honey dear I know" the man's voice sounded convincing. "What can I do? You know about my job..."
"At least for Jackie..." Mrs. Johnson made a sobbing sound. Was she crying?
I heard the scraping of chair and then heard the man say, "Just this time. I promise I'll keep in touch with you two regularly from now on. Please don't cry Maggie."
Maggie? Mrs. Johnson's name was Maggie? Cool!
Before I could hear anything else, the door slammed shut due to the wind. It made a banging sound.
"AAAAGH...!" I screamed, shocked.
A moment later, Maggie came running with a tall man behind her. He was wearing a uniform type of thing which made him look really smart. He had dirty-blonde hair and looked somewhat familiar. I had seen him somewhere before. But I just couldn't remember at that moment.
Who is this man? I wondered as he came near me and flashed a broad smile.
A/N
Well, this chapter was quite short right? And there was some mystery too!
So who do you think is the mystery man? Any guesses there?? Do let me know by commenting...:) The first right answer will get a dedication in the next chapter and I'll also vote and share the person's story!
So hurry now!!!
Keep smiling...ily all...
