-Aurora Jones's Point of View-
The moment dad parked his car in the parking lot, I knew this wasn't your average high school. Everyone arriving had expensive cars and limos, even men that would get off and open the door for them. I felt out of place wearing my simple dress, while everyone else had on fancy and expensive looking uniforms.
The principle, Mrs. Williams, just finished giving my family and I a tour of the enormous school and, suddenly, stopped in front of a room with the number 105 on the door.
"This is Miss. Aurora's first period, which is AP English IV. I'll be sure to introduce her." Mrs. Williams smiled, before waving my parents off and leading me inside the classroom.
"Excuse me for the interruption, Professor Ruiz, but I've come to introduce a new student." Mrs. Williams smiled, walking over to who I'm guessing was the teacher of this classroom.
All eyes were on me and I could feel my nerves begin to build up. I wasn't really use to being in the spotlight, so I did my best to stay out of it at my last high school.
"It's quite alright, Mrs. Williams. Go ahead and introduce yourself, young lady." The professor nodded, before continuing to write instructions on the board.
I could feel my hands start to get sweaty and my heart was beating so loud in my chest, I was afraid the other students could hear it.
"H-Hi, my name is Aurora Jones. M-My friends, back home, called me Jones. You guys are free to call me that too, i-if you'd like." I stuttered.
I mentally smacked myself, Way to embarrass yourself, idiot!
No one said a single word, they stayed silent and looked at me like I was some strange creature. I guess that's to be expected of a classroom full of, what I'm assuming are, "rich kids."
One of the girls in the class stood up, suddenly. "Hello, I'm Sabrina. It's nice to meet you, Jones." She smiled, "There's a free seat next to my desk, would you like to sit here?"
I was relieved when Sabrina offered me the seat beside her, I guess it's not all bad being the new girl.
"Thank you, Sabrina." I smiled, before making my way towards the desk beside here.
I could see the shock in everyone's faces as soon as I sat beside Sabrina. I wasn't sure what was so shocking about Sabrina being so nice, they should learn a thing or two from her.
Professor Ruiz cleared his throat, "Alright, class, today I'd like to go over some rhetorical devices. I'm sure most of you have heard some, but not all of them... so let us begin."
