-Aurora Jones' Point of View-

As I sat in the living room with my parents, I thought of every scenario that could happen after asking if I could go to a party. I have no idea why, but they just can't stand the idea of me going out... especially to a party. Asking them if I could go to one so soon made me incredibly nervous and nauseous.

"Is something the matter, honey? You've been furrowing your eyebrows for a good ten minutes now." Mom chuckled.

That's because I've been trying to figure out how to ask you, my overprotective parents, to grant me permission to go to a party.

I sighed, "Actually... I made a few friends today and one of them is having a party. Surprisingly enough, I was invited and one of the guys asked me to be their date to that party. He didn't exactly give me a chance to refuse his offer, since I know how much you guys hate me going to parties, so I was hoping you'd give me permission to go?" I asked, avoiding my mom and dad's eyes.

"Wow, you're first day and you've already been invited to a party!" Mom cheered, clapping her hands.

I heard an annoying voice behind me, "But Aurora doesn't have friends, how could she go to a party?!" My little brother, Jake, laughed.

Jake and I usually got along, with a few minor arguments. We always like to banter around with each other, which is pretty good for an fourteen year old boy.

I turned to look at Jake, "Oh hush, you! I can make friends!" I smirked.

Dad's voice made all the jokes subside and the room quiet, "Who's party is it and who is this boy?" He asked, not even cracking a smile.

Here we go, time to convince the head of house...

"When I got to class, this really nice girl, named Sabrina, asked if I wanted to sit in the desk beside hers. We, quickly, became friends and she even asked me to eat lunch with her and her friends. One of her friends is named Jennifer and she gave me an invitation to her party. After she did that, Harry, another friend of Sabrina's, asked if I could be his date. I was going to say no, but he was way too persistent and, like I said before, he didn't really give me a chance to turn him down." I explained, hoping my dad would give me a chance.

"Is he going to pick you up?" He asked.

I nodded, "Yes, around eight o'clock."

He nodded, "Well then, I look forward to meeting this boy." He smiled, "You and your mother should probably get going."

I cocked a brow, "What do you mean get going?"

Mom grabbed my hand and lead me out of the house, "To buy a dress, of course!" She giggled.

With all the worrying about finding our way around and a new school, I had completely forgotten about a dress. All my dresses were hand-me-downs from my mother and grandmother, which I didn't exactly mind. Unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to wear any of those dresses, especially a party where a bunch of rich kids will be attending.

******

After a while of looking, mom found a beautiful blue dress. It was a bit revealing, but my mom said it would be fine. She, quickly, shoved me into a dressing room and made me try it on.

"Hey, mom? Don't you think this dress is a little too revealing?" I asked as I changed into it. "How is dad going to let me go to a party in this?"

I heard my mother laugh, "Don't worry, Aurora, I'll take care of your father! Just hurry up, so I can see how it looks!"

I can't remember the last time we came shopping for clothes together, so she must be way too excited about this. Back in Texas, we really didn't have much time to enjoy each other's company like this. She always had to work or I always had something to do at school, so we would only see each other at home. Now that dad is making good money, she was able to quit her job and, thus, giving us more time to spend with each other.

After slipping on the dress, I quickly looked into the mirror and automatically liked what I saw. The blue dress wasn't as revealing as I thought, once I put it on. Aside from the opening on my back, it still looked pretty decent. It had a collar, so it wasn't too revealing around my chest area and I'm positive dad would really like that.

As I continued to admire myself, I could hear mom laughing and talking with someone. I found that weird since we've just moved here and she probably didn't know many people around here yet.

I stepped out, curiosity overwhelming me, and walked towards my mom. When I got close enough to see who it was, my heart stopped for a few moments.

I quickly turned around to hide, but a familiar voice made me stop in my tracks. "Jones?" Harry called out.

I sighed, Dammit. Caught.

What the hell was he doing talking to my mom?! He couldn't have known she was my mom, so what the hell? Is he stalking me now?! Did I make a mistake to accept his request?!

I turned around to find Harry already standing in front of me, "Harry, w-what are you doing here?"

Harry smiled, "I decided to come get a new tuxedo for the party and I'm glad I did. Wow, you look... stunning." He smirked, while eyeing me from head to toe.

I wasn't sure how Harry was being so polite, especially when he acted completely different back in the lunch room. He was cocky and a lot more arrogant, I'm guessing he's putting up an act in front of my mom.

I looked over at my mom, then back at Harry. "How'd you know she was my mom?" I asked, feeling a bit self-conscious .

Harry wouldn't stop scanning my body, which made me feel a bit odd. I know he's an absolute ladies man, but he doesn't have to act like he's never seen a girl in a dress before. I'm absolutely flattered, but he could at least try not to make it so obvious.

Harry finally took his eyes away from his body and turned to face my mother, "I needed help picking out a tux and I noticed your mom, so I figured she might know a thing or two about which tux is best. To my surprise, she did. Thanks to her, I'm able to look sharp at the party tonight." He explained.

"Aurora is this the boy you mentioned?" Mom asked with a huge smile on her face.

Harry turned to face me with a smirk. It was obvious he was playing some sort of game, but I had no idea what kind of game this was or why he was doing it. The smirk on his face changed into a warm smile as he turned to face my mother, "Yes, ma'am, that would be me. I look forward to meeting your husband later on tonight." He nodded.

Harry's voice actually sounded so kind and gentle, he seriously knows how to act like a gentleman. I, obviously, know how he really is and it's nowhere near a gentleman.

Mom laughed behind him, "He's a sweetheart Aurora, your father will love him!" She practically squealed.

"What?!" I shouted, completely shocked at her choice of words.

I don't like Harry, not even a little. He may be attractive and the only good thing about him could probably be his eyes, but I do not want my parents to think anything else about us. We are not dating, we are not going to start dating, and he most certainly feels the same way about this.

I shook my head, "No, mom, I-

Harry's arm found its way around my shoulders again as he flashed my mom a gentle smile, "I'm sure hoping he does. You'll be seeing a lot more of me, Mrs. Jones."

Mom chuckled, "I sure hopes so, who would've thought little Aurora would find such a respectful and handsome young man."

You should see how he acts at school, you wouldn't be so happy right now!

I sighed and made my way towards the dressing room again.
