*Tommy's POV*
Finally, the bell rang. It was the end of the day! I took my paper and shoved it in my folder and handed Adam his pencil back as he was cleaning up his things. He quickly hid his paper. I was so anxious to see who it was, but I didn't bother to ask.
Before I went to seventh period, I brought what I needed to take home, saving me a trip to my locker. I hung my bag over my shoulder, waiting for Adam to finish packing.
"Hey, will you come up to my locker with me?" he asked. I nodded and we walked out the door. We made a left, dodging the football players and headed up the stairs.
Everyone was clearing out and there were soon only a few people up there. We came up to a group of about 15 lockers in a row where Adam's was, and a girl was leaning against one. She was the same girl that I saw in the theater room.
"Hey, Adam!" she said as we came up to her and she gave him a hug. I stood behind since I was nervous. I had no idea what people were going to say to me.
"Who's your friend?" I poked out from behind him and stood beside him, smiling weakly.
"Oh, this is Tommy Joe Ratliff," he said, putting a hand on my arm and smiling.
"But just call me Tommy," I added.
"Well I'm Rose," she smiled.
"We have known each other since last year," Adam explained to me. "And she is just totally obsessed with me!" he joked.
"Ugh, shut up Adam! You know you want this," she said and ran her hands down to her hips and flipped her hair, kidding around.
We all started laughing. Wow, this is the first time I actually laughed in months. I started to laugh even harder for no reason other than just to laugh. Then Adam was laughing more because I was, and then Rose did too. We were just laughing our asses off for nothing. Tears were streaming down mine and Adam's face and Rose held her stomach. I was so happy and I LOVED IT.
All of us started to calm down and catch our breath.
"Ahh, it feels nice to laugh," I said between gasps.
Adam nodded. "Yes, it does, especially with two awesome friends!" I could have died right there. Everything was perfect. I felt refreshed and new and...good. Adam opened his locker and got his stuff together while I talked to Rose some more.
"So, what are you doing up here?" she asked me.
"Oh, I uh," I stuttered as I blushed. "I was going over Adam's house." That sounded so weird to say, realizing that we only met that morning. She looked at Adam who was smiling into his locker.
"Ah, I see. His house is always full of surprises. Just wait until you meet Neil."
Oh no! Did he already have a boyfriend or something?!
"Who's Neil?" I said, nervous.
"Neil, is my annoying little seventh grade brother who doesn't know how to mind his own business," Adam replied for her.
"Yeah, but he's totally fun to mess with!" Rose exclaimed. She was honestly a very pretty girl with good intensions.
Maybe if I wasn't gay...
Someone snapped their fingers in front of my face. "Yo, Tommy!" Adam called. I was shocked and shook myself back to reality.
Was I really just thinking of that? No, no, no.
"Hmm?" I managed.
"You started to stare off into space. Everything alright there?"
How long exactly was I like that?
