*Adam's POV*
"Tommy!" I yelled, running backstage of the auditorium. A few people gave me weird looks, wondering what the heck was wrong with me (they weren't mean, just...confused, I guess). I hugged him from behind, knocking the wind out of him with the impact.
"A-Adam!" he squeaked with shock. Rose was laughing at us. I just smiled at her.
"You're here!" I exclaimed, squeezing him tighter. He attempted to wiggle free, only succeeding in flipping himself around half-way.
"Yes, I am," he chuckled. "Why wouldn't I be?"
I kissed his cheek. "Because you don't want to come back to this hell-hole."
"True," he agreed. "But I need to get to work. And I needed to see you, since I knew you were staying back." He gave me a quick peck on the lips.
"Well then, get to work!" Rose butted in, pulling him away from me. He pouted, but followed her lead.
What to do, what to do... I thought to myself, pacing across the stage.
"Mr. Lambert?" someone called.
I turned my head in the direction towards my name.
"Yes, Miss Mook?" I asked, jogging up to her.
She held out a clipboard with a blank sign-up sheet. "I want you to go around and ask everyone what they will be doing to help set up. Also, be sure to ask them if they want to perform." She smiled, handing me the supplies.
"I'm on it," I said, nodding. I decided to work left to right, so I exited center stage, working my way over.
As I continued asking people, the more slots were filled for presenting talents. From piano playing to beat-boxing and everything in between was being showed. I even saved myself a position. I had thought about it a lot, actually.
On Christmas, Tommy had played me a beautiful piece on his bass. I, of course, gave him the finished product of the picture I was drawing of him. I eventually got to painting it and filling in the background detail. He said he loved it and he even used some of the money he got from my parents to frame it.
That night I took him on a date (our first official one, mind you), and it honestly was the best night of my life. I grew more in love with him. There is nothing I wouldn't do for him. So, I thought to show him that, I would write him a song and perform it in the talent show. Although I still have to compose it, I have everything planned out.
I smiled to myself as I wrote my name in cursive with my purple sparkle-gel pen. Making my last rounds, I bumped into Tommy and Rose again, now joined by Allyson.
"Hey! What are you doing here?" I greeted.
"I was going to get a ride home from Rose. I was upstairs tutoring some freshmen." She smiled and leaned over the item in my hands. "Whatcha got there?" she inquired, quirking an eyebrow.
I looked down at it for a second, "Oh, this is the sign up for the talent show Friday." I handed it out to her.
She jumped up and down and quickly snatched the pen out of my hand and scribbled down her information. "Yes! Finally!" she giggled, passing it on to Rose.
"No thanks," Rose commented, handing it over to Tommy. "I'm not really the talented type." She laughed at herself.
"Ooh, what are you doing, Adam?" Tommy asked, a smirk growing on his face.
I quickly took it back before he could read the rest.
"Hey!" he protested, trying to get it back. All I had to do was simply hold it above my head, clearly out of his reach.
