Chapter 41

"Ray Ray don't hurt your brothers." Nicki mumbled weakly her eyes still closed.

Elijah took in a sharp breath. What was she saying?

"The vinegar and acid you forced them to drink was enough . . . please don't hurt them." She mumbled.

He moved closer to her.

"No don't punish yourself . . . Jade get away from that fire." She started tossing a bit.

Wait is she talking about the kids? Elijah thought.

"Jesy don't cut yourself . . . please guys . . . I can't help if you don't talk to me . . . if you're fine why do you look like that? I'm going crazy trying to figure out what's wrong. Guys!" She suddenly sat up, takingin a deep breath and looking around. She startled when she saw Elijah staring at her his mouth wide.

"Nicki . . ." he breathed out in wonder.

"W-who are you? Where am I?" Her eyes got wide as she realized something; "Where are the kids?!?!" She yelled. She tried to get up but was too week and sat back on the bed.

"Um . . . they're here . . . And I'm Elijah; the baby-sitter. This is a hospital." He backed up to the door then stuck his head out to call for a nurse.

"Baby-sitter?" Nicki asked weakly when he looked back at her. "How long was I out? What happened?"

"Uhh . . . it must have been around thirty hours or so." He shrugged not sure of the actual time she fainted.

"Thirty hours?" She whispered. "Oh my God my kids." She'd never been away from them before. She could only imagine what kind of damage would be waiting for her when she got back home. They must have been so lost and scared . . . not to mention what they could have done to each other in her absence.

"Don't worry Nicki . . . I took good care of them." The things she was saying in her sleep suddenly started racing through his mind in a loop. Combined with the way she was acting now it seemed that his first instincs had been right. This whole thing was the kids fault. They stressed Nicki out so much that she couldn't take anymore.

They had issues that they tried to keep hidden, making her worry and they were dangerous and crazy. He wasn't sure exactly what they were capable of but he knew it was affecting Nicki in a negative way. He suddenly felt this burning rage inside of him for those kids. It was unfair that Nicki loved them so much yet they hurt her so much. Why couldn't they just act normal? Or was that what they were doing when they kept secrets from her? Whatever was going on Elijah didn't like it because Nicki was getting hurt.

"Oh no. I need to see them now!" She yelled. A nurse came in and was checking her vitals but all she was concerned about at the moment was the kids. "Pips! Pips!" She started screaming. "Guys where are you!"

The door to her room suddenly flew open and the pips all filed in in excitement. Some were crying others were just grinning. They'd never looked so happy.

"How was your nap Mummy?" Perrie asked trying to climb into Nicki's bed even as he nurse protested.

"Aww Perrie I missed you." Nicki picked her up and gave her a kiss.

Nicki was to be admitted out of the hospital on Saturday afternoon when she gathered enough strength so Elijah took home the now relieved looking children. He had a plan to make sure that Nicki would never have to go through that again. He was determined to make sure that they wouldn't worry her ever again.

Just before they all went to bed he called them to the living room. They were gathered on the couch as he loomed over them.

"What is this about?" Ray Ray asked stubbornly as they'd been sitting there in silence for over a minute as Elijah glared at them.
