Chapter 47

Nicki was yawning at breakfast that morning as she examined the kids. "So guys how did you like your grounding?" She asked.

There were some mumbles and grumbles from most of the kids but excited yells from Prodigy and Roc Royal who claimed that it was awesome.

"I hope you guys learned to get along better." Nicki said smugly. She really hoped that her plan worked. "Ray Ray, Jade was it so bad sharing a room?" She asked them.

Jade's face turned a bright shade of pink while Ray Ray's took on a cool dark red. "Eh . . . let's just not do it again." Jade mumbled.

"Hmm at least we can agree on that." Ray Ray said folding his arms.

"Okay . . ." Nicki shook her head at them wondering what was up. "How 'bout you guys Prince and Jes?"

"I slept fine." Princeton said softly looking at Nicki. He glanced at Jesy. "I'm not so sure about Jesy though."

Nicki turned to Jesy who was half asleep, her chin supported by her palm, her food untouched –not that that was new. "Jes didn't you sleep last night?"

"Huh?" Jesy asked sleepily, training bleary eyes on Nicki.

"Jesy why didn't you sleep last night?" Nicki asked a little worried.

"I . . . slamashagarree . . . hmmm." Jesy mumbled gibberish, her head ducking.

Nicki raised an eyebrow. "Come again?"

"This morning she had a panick attack . . . I had to call Leigh-Anne to wake her up." Princeton said looking concerned.

"What?" Nicki asked alarmed. "Wait . . . but if she was having a panick attack wouldn't that mean that she's awake?"

"Yeah but she said –while hyperventilating I should add –that she needed me to get Leigh-Anne to wake her up. And when I brought Leigh-Anne, she lied back on the pillow and pretended to sleep." Princeton sounded worried.

Nicki was now very worried. "Leigh-Anne does this make sense to you?" Nicki turned to where Leigh-Anne was sitting.

Leigh-Anne was face down in her eggs, breathing deeply, fast asleep.

"Leigh-Anne!" Nicki said loudly to wake her.

"Please don't!" Leigh-Anne yelled suddenly sitting up. She panted and looked around the table. When she realized everyone staring at her she picked a piece of egg that was stuck to her cheek off and popped it into her mouth then smiled.

"Leigh-Anne you didn't sleep either?" Nicki asked suddenly more weary than before.

"What do you mean? Of course I did." She said as she yawned.

"Unbelievable." Nicki mumbled. "What caused you guys to be up all night?" Nicki was exasperated. "And Jesy what's this about you asking for Leigh to wake you up? Why can't you be a good girl and behave yourself? Just because you don't like Princeton doesn't give you lisence to be stubborn."

Jesy blinked at Nicki as if Nicki was speaking Greek.

"Mom I don't think she was being stubborn." Princeton said quietly.

Nicki was confused. "Then what was it Princeton?" Nicki all but snapped.

Prineton flinched then shrugged.

"You know what whatever I don't care. You two are staying home . . . the last thing I need is for the school to call about you sleeping in class." Nicki was too cranky to deal with all of this.

"Hmm . . . Something is off here . . ." Jade mumbled looking from Leigh-Anne to Jesy then back. "More off than usual."

"What are talking about?" Nicki yawned.
