"Here we are with the gorgeous and talented Nicki Minaj. So Nicki tell us about your upcoming third album." Today show host Kathie-Lee asked two weeks later.
Nicki was promoting her new single 'Pills 'n Potions.' She was going to be up and about for the entire day. She started filming the today show at six and would be doing interviews and small performances until about four thirty. She hoped to be back to the kids in LA by at least nine that night.
They all had some extra curricular stuff to keep them busy until like five but then one of Nicki's personal drivers would take them home. She hoped that they'd be okay alone for all that time. She didn't want to risk getting another sitter. She really didn't want all of their problems public.
"Well, my album is called the Pink Print and the song Pill's n Postions is . . ." Nicki went on explaining the song and what it meant to her.
When she was done, another question was asked. "So Nicki as you're here promoting may I ask where your eight little bundles of joy are?"
Nicki should have seen this coming. "Oh you mean the pips? Well they've got school and stuff back in LA so yeah."
"Well everyone is practically dying to know just at least a little more about these pips." Hoda said. "Could you tell us a little bit about what they're like?" She went on.
Nicki thought for a moment then answered; "They are some of the sweetest kids you'd ever meet. They're all really young but I can actually have a full conversation with each of them." Nicki said trying to work around the questions about her pips without giving any of their secrets away.
"Oh wow! How old is the eldest 'pip'?" Kathee Lee asked curiosly.
"The eldest is ten years old and his name is Ray Ray. He's the one with the long poney tail braids. He's kinda the macho one. He thinks of himself as 'the man of the house'" Nicki said remembering Ray's exact words.
"That is adorable. You know people only know about Jesy and Leigh-Anne so it's good to hear about. . ." Hoda trailed off when she was interrupted by Kathee Lee.
"By the way what happened to one of their feet? I saw that it's in a cast." Kathee Lee asked concerned.
Nicki had to be careful with this one. Every one knew that Leigh and Jes were best friends so if she told the world that some one broke Leigh's ankle then they might want to know about Jesy's reaction. "Um . . . You know I actually can't remember but it was probably while the kids were playing. You know how kids get a little reckless some times at recess at school."
"Oh well we hope she gets well soon. Nicki Minaj every body!" Hoda said closing off the interview.
The rest of the interviews that day went along similar lines and Nicki was careful not to let anything damaging slip about the pips. At ten she was entering her house completely exhausted.
"I'm home babies!" She said loudly moving into the living room. She realized that they all must have been upstairs.
She yawned and started trudging up the stairs. She knocked on Jade and Perrie's room door first. There was no reply and when she opened the door she saw that the lights were off. They must have been asleep. She entered their room and kissed the foreheads of their tiny sleeping forms.
She did the same with all the other kids who were fast asleep then headed to her own room where she took a shower then climbed into bed.
She felt peaceful. Things could only get better from here. As long as she was careful the kids would be fine. She would have to trust that they could take care of themselves when she was busy for now and try to make time for them. She still had months before her album was set for release and she'd have a few performances and interviews about 'Pills n Potions.' Nothing that she couldn't handle. Although things would become difficult when she got really busy and she'd be forced to get help taking care of them, for now things would be okay. She couldn't worry about the future.
