"Leigh-Anne . . . What's wrong with you?" Jesy was asking as she played games on her new laptop. She loved shooting things and crashing cars. She was really getting into it. She also loved winning. Even though she'd been glued to the game –playing with one less dominant hand –all day, she still noticed that something about Leigh-Anne was off. Leigh loved the game as much as she did and did not attempt –like she'd done so often the day before –to 'show Jesy how it was done'. She loved showing off how well she could play since her dominant hand wasn't in a cast.

"What do you mean?" Leigh-Anne asked as she was lying on her front, with her face pressed into a pillow, near Jesy on one of the beds in their temporary room.

"Well you haven't schooled me on this level yet." Jesy said dryly. "And I'm getting my ass kicked. Besides you haven't once scolded me for using bad words yet, nor had you said anything when I threw the laptop across the room. Mum knew what she was doing when she got such a sturdy one with a case."

Leigh-Anne only moaned. She sighed thinking that she needed to pacify Jesy's curiosity before she figured it out. "I'm fine Jes . . . I'm just really tired."

"Uh-huh . . . Why are you tired . . . we went to bed at the same time. It wasn't that late." Jesy said getting stopped by a cop in the game for shooting innocent bystanders. "Oh f*** it!" She growled out as she lost the level –again.

"I couldn't sleep?" Leigh-Anne said.

"And you didn't wake me up? Not even for a cuddle?" Jesy started up the level again.

"Well . . . you looked so peacefull sleeping that I didn't want to wake you. So I just watched you sleep all night." Leigh-Anne said smiling weakly. She hoped that that would probably throw Jesy off.

"Mhhhm . . . but even if you're just tired . . . you've been lying in that position all day so far. You haven't even gotten out of your jim-jams. You don't usually have breakfast in pajamas." Jesy glanced at Leigh-Anne before looking back at the game. "Die, die, die!"

"Jes I don't think you're supposed to kill everyone . . . that's not the aim of the game."

"Look who's trying to change the subject." Jesy said obnoxiously. "Go get out of your jim-jams Leigh." She ordered. "You can't stay in bed all day. You've got to come beat this level for me before I end up breaking the laptop."

"Of course Jes." Leigh-Anne said as calmly as possible. On the inside though, she was panicking. That one lash Ray Ray got on her was killing her. She didn't know how Prodigy and Roc Royal could function with the amount they got. Watching them suffer because of her made her feel sick. She really didn't want to move. Her back hurt too much. Eating that morning was a struggle. She didn't know how she managed it without Jesy noticing something was wrong.

She slowly got off the bed, thankful that Jesy's attention was on the game. She groggily got to her suitcase and pulled out the softest looking clothing she could find that would still cover the nasty red mark that was on her back. She started heading to the bathroom to change, hoping Jesy would be too engrossed in the game to notice.

"Hold it right there little missy." Jesy said suddenly pausing the game and looking up. "Are you going to the bathroom to change?"

Leigh-Anne gulped. "I've got to wee . . ."

"You're lying." Jesy said matter of factly. "You don't have to wee."

"And how would you know that Jesy? You don't have my bladder." Leigh-Anne said, irritably. She was trying to hide her guilt by getting upset.

"Because I can tell when you're lying to me." Jesy slammed her laptop shut and stood from the bed. "You're hiding something . . . and I demand to know what it is right now!"
