Chapter 3

I look at my alarm clock and its
5:20 a.m.
I jump out of my bed and head to the bathroom and do my morning business, after that I brush my teeth and hair, put my makeup on and I get dressed. I look at the clock and its
6:48 a.m.

I'm ready for school!

" Madeline come down for breakfast!"  Shouted Karen from the kitchen downstairs

" I'm coming!! " I yell back

I grab my bag and head downstairs to the kitchen and I see Karen with Frank at the table waiting for me to sit down with them.

" So do you know what today is?! " Frank asks with a huge smile on his face.

" Hmmm let's see....my anniversary duh?! " I shout out with a cheerful voice!

" Correct! " they both shout with joy

" Honey, these past seven years with you have been a blessing and hopefully we'll have more to come!" Karen says

I sit back in my chair and I have a flashback on the day they both adopted me and took me home for the first time. I was only 8 years old at the time and I had no idea how to act like a human.

It took me a almost two years to get use to eating with a knife and fork, sleeping properly in my bed,  having good relationships with people, having good hygiene, and learning how to read, write, and speak properly. As I never learned how to when I lived in H.M.E .

I'm grateful for Frank and Karen for letting me have the opportunity  to live a normal life. Even know I live normal life now I'm still scarred from my past and still have some of my abnormal abilities. 

Wow that was seven years ago.

" I made your favorite! "

Karen gets up and serves me pancakes and eggs with bacon. It smells really good, like really good, my 8th senses makes the smell more extravagant  then how ordinary people would smell it.

" This smells amazing!! "

" I had a feeling you would say that! Since you do have the best nose in the family!

" Ha. Yeah "

Frank and Karen have gotten use to my special abilities but even though I try to live a normal life, my abilities always get in my way.
I frown at the thought and dismiss it right away and take a bite from my pancakes.

I finish my breakfast and thank Karen for the special meal and I grab my bag and head to school.

I have the option to take the bus or get dropped off by Frank or Karen but walking just eases my mind. The weather in Nevada is pretty warm in August which is perfect for me
It's good combination of hot and cold!

I pull out my iPhone 6s and plug my earbuds in and listen to
New Americana by Halsey.

So peaceful.

Whenever I'm walking and listening to music at the same time makes me feel like I'm in my own little music video or something.  I laugh at my silly thought.

My neighborhood is pretty simple
Simple houses and simple neighbors. I talk to them once in a while but we usually just talk about the latest gossip in the neighborhood, which is not really that interesting.
I walk to my friend's house Lucas and I text him to come out so we can walk to school together.

I'm outside your house hurry up!

I wait for almost a minute and he replies back.

Hold onnn chica! I'm getting lunch money I'll be out in a sec! ;)

You better!

Two minutes later he comes out and he looks over dressed

" Whoa what's with that outfit?! " I ask in surprise

" New school year new me! I'm trying to get a boyfriend this year Maddie! and with my new clothes I'll get enough attention as you do! "

" But there's other ways to get a boyfriend! "

" Whatever you just don't understand because you basically have all the cute boys throwing themselves at you! " he yells

" Whatever let's just go or we are gonna be late! "

We leave his house and start walking to school.
Lucas is my best friend who I can tell anything to and he's the only one who doesn't find me strange but he gets jealous of me whenever boys confess to me.

When I was still in H.M.E  I was assigned to a cosmetic project, the goal they had was to make someone beautiful by just drinking pills for 8 days and your figure or  face will change and will look even better than it did before.

I was one of the twelve people that were assigned to that project. Many of the tests failed, people started to have faces or bodies swelled up, their skin would turn to another color, rashes,blisters started to form on their skin, and some people had to have limbs removed because the circulation cut off because of the pills.

I was one of the three who came out fine from the project. Because of that project my figure became better too and now guys look at me all because of H.M.E.

I hate the fact that guys look at me is because I was drugged with pills to look beautiful against my will.

Its just not fair.

" So I heard Tyler Bachley messaged you on Facebook and asked you out over the summer? What did you say to him? " Lucas asks, bringing me back to reality.

" I said no "

" WHAT?! " he shrieks

" What do you mean what?! We never even talked before so why would he even like me? "

" That's why it's called dating Maddie! To get to know people! "

" Well I'm not looking for a relationship right now."

" You never are. " he scoffs and puts his earbuds in and ignores me.

I can't blame him though, my reason for not looking for a boyfriend is stupid.

I tell myself to let go and forget about  Yo-kun, but I can't. He was first boy I've ever loved, I grew up with him in H.M.E and he was the only one who understood my pain. Our pain.
The day I heard I was getting transferred I was sad, because I would be apart from him,  the boy who was always there when I cried.

He promised me if we were to see each other again out of H.M.E we would never be apart again.
But that was a child's promise and he probably doesn't remember it, or he's forgotten about me.

It's been seven years since I last seen him, I'm not even sure if he's even dead or  alive.

The thought is agonizing.
