Chapter 18

{ Yo-kun }

It's been at least three days and Maddie has been...quiet. Since her last check up and was told she was due in about a week or less she's been worried about her fate when it's time for Izumi to come. After insisting Maddie that his name should be Izumi she finally gave in and now it's officially his name. The name just popped in my head honestly, and I like the way it sounded even if there is no meaning behind it. Segi and the staff in the house liked the name I came up with as well but I'm pretty sure they're just sucking up to me because most of them are afraid of me.
Maddie has been locked in her room the whole day and I've been in the lab the whole time with Segi so we haven't been able to check up on her at all.

Even if I did I couldn't talk to her.

My last experiment was just a checkup on my teeth and Frank plucked out each one from my mouth. I feel a few of them growing back but I'm still missing my front teeth. I at least want to have all my teeth when I talk to her.

Ugh.  Hurry up already.

As I wait for them to grow back I watch Segi poke his arm that's snapped from the elbow and above from all the weight he was punching earlier.

"Are you looking at me? " he calls out

"How did you know? " I mumble in surprise.He usually never notices me staring.

"I got the feeling that a pair of eyes are being darted at me. Also you shouldn't talk with your mouth full of saliva just wait patiently and wait for your teeth to grow back." He says bluntly.

I spit at him and he starts laughing as he wipes it off.

"Are you going to see Maddie after this? " He asks

"Well yea. I kind of want to see what she's up to since she isolated herself since the checkup." I gargle and spit on the floor from all the saliva that's building up in my mouth.

"You care about her?" He asks

"What that's suppose to mean? I just want to see what she's up to. " I roll my eyes

How can I possibly care about someone?

"Well Madeline has told me you were the sweet and caring type when she was still living in the facility and I find it hard to believe all that bullshit." He grins." But since we got out to look for her I noticed that you started acting weirder than you usually do. You're showing everyone that you care about somebody, and that somebody is her."

I do nothing but blink. What is he talking about? All I'm doing is checking up on her because of Izumi and don't want anything to happen to her. She's a real pain in the butt most of the time going on and on about love and other nonsense that I eventually get annoyed of her.

"Don't be stupid. I can't care about anyone and we both know that. " I spit on the floor again.

"Just because you weren't taught how to care about someone doesn't mean you can't. " Segi implies.

Ok now he's just blabbering nonsense, even if I wanted to care about Maddie I wouldn't even know how to.Segi doesn't know shit.

I walk out the lab leaving the hyena laughing Segi  behind, laughing because he knows that he pissed me  off and I slam the cold door shut and walk to Maddie's room.

Her door is locked and with my trusty gunky black fingernail I open the lock with no problem and take a peek inside her dark room.

She's in her bed looking peaceful in her sleep.
I stare at her for a while, amazed at her sleeping figure, so exposed and fragile she looks. She starts to shift under her blanket and opens her eyes and looks up at me.
