Chapter 14: Aria's Crush
Aria doesn't want to go home.
Drake and I don’t know what to do anymore.
“Aria, you’re going to be sick if you don’t change clothes now.” Drake reasoned for the nth time.
We’re standing in front of my car, just waiting for Aria to get inside then we’re off. It’s a good thing the rain stopped already and her crying fit subsided, though she’s still clinging to me like a Koala.
“I don’t want to go home.” Aria shook her head stubbornly then looked up at me with wide pleading eyes.
I’m the one who shake my head this time even if I almost gave in to her wish. It’s just unfair when she uses that look on me.
“Get inside.” I ordered seriously.
“No.” She said stubbornly.
I look helplessly at Drake and Drake look back helplessly as well. “We have no choice.” Drake sighed, nodding his head at me.
I nodded back.
In one swift movement, Drake pulled Aria away from me and tackled her inside the car… forcefully, making her yelp in surprise.
“She’s a girl you moron!” I yelled at him disapprovingly.
I heard Drake yelled back in pain. “A girl with strength of a man!”
I hastily ran in the driver’s side and set the car in child lock the same time Drake closed the door, leaving me and Aria inside.
“Good luck.” Drake said behind the window then walked away.
I heard Aria huffed beside me. “If you take me home, I’ll kick your balls.”
“Kick it all you want.” I told her as I start the car, although I can clearly hear the seriousness in her threat, I just don’t understand why she doesn’t want to go home.
“You don’t understand. If you take me home, this will just get worst.” Aria said seriously, facing me.
I swiftly glance at her than back to the road. “How can I understand if I have no idea what’s happening to you?”
“How can you not understand if you’re not asking me anything? You haven’t even asked me if I am okay.” She countered and I detected the slight hint of disappointment in her tone.
I increase the speed as we exit the Plaza’s gate. “I hate asking the obvious.” I reminded her.
“Sometimes, it’s okay to ask the obvious so people will have an idea that you care.” Aria whispered, looking out the window.
We remain silent after that. I just keep my eyes on the road and she just keeps on looking at her window.
I am actually really pissed that she thinks I don’t care.
So what’s the explanation why I ran in the middle of a heavy rain and search for her in her in the alley, almost losing my mind at how worried I am.
Sure. I don’t care about her. I just happen to feel like showering in heavy rain tonight, run in dark alleys and shout her name.
How can you explain that? Weird hobby? It’s really not a big deal if she thinks I don’t care about her after all that, really, I just wanted to punch something tonight, that’s all.
When we reached her house, Aria made no attempt in getting out of the car. We just sit there quietly, staring ahead.
“You should get inside.” I told her, still pissed that she thinks I don’t care about her.
