Chapter 4: Raging Hormones
I knocked impatiently at Natalie’s door for the third time.
She promised me that she would only take five minutes to get ready. We both know that is a lie. I’ve learned well enough about girls and their hair.
“Come on. Your hair is perfect.” I half shouted at her door. “I’m sure of it.” I felt the need to add and rolled my eyes.
Surely that got her moving because the door suddenly burst open.
Finally.
“Really?” she asked skeptically.
Natalie curled her hair today but I like it better natural. I did not bother saying that otherwise she’ll be taking another half hour to fix her hair to “perfection” so I forced a smile and nodded.
Girls have this need to be always assured that they look good.
No, not good but dashing.
At least, that is what my twin embedded in my head throughout the years.
She beamed again then her gaze suddenly fell to my watch. “Nathan?” She asked abruptly.
“What?”
“What time is it?”
I raised a brow and checked my watch. “9:00.”
She gasped and hit my arm, hard.
Have I mentioned she’s the captain of the volleyball team?
“Ow, what the-?” I demanded, rubbing my arm.
“We are so late for our first class!” she whined.
“I wonder whose fault it is.” I said sarcastically.
“Whatever, it’s only the first period anyway.” She countered.
She hit me in the arm because we are late for our first period. Now when the burden is on her, she switched views and implied that it is okay to be late because it is only the first period.
Bipolar.
Unfortunately I said that out loud which earned me another hit in the arm, even harder this time. And that really hurts.
“That hurts.” I hissed.
“Such a girl.” She mocked. “What’s the point of your muscles if it can’t withstand a silly slap?”
I snorted, “Silly slap? You have hands that can behead a person with one fast slap.”
“That’s mean.” She demanded.
“You’re a volleyball player, you should be flattered.”
She glared at me, I glared back at her. Times like this I wish she is a boy.
I managed to get us to school within ten minutes. I almost earned a ticket for speeding but Natalie charmed our way out. And she hits my arm again because of the fact that I was speeding.
I really wanted to blame everything on her and make her feel a little bit of guilt in her system but I know well enough of what my physical condition can be after I voiced my thoughts out loud.
Probably bruised and broken.
“Have you talked to dad?” Natalie asked me quietly as we stepped out of the office after we get our passes.
