Chapter 24: Weirder

“How pregnant is she?”

I looked up at him as I sipped my coffee. Aria is getting dressed so Gabriel invited me for a short chat in their living room.

Ashton is upstairs, I think. That punk.

Their living room is so professionally designed. It is corporate looking. There is mahogany shelves filled with various kinds of trophies standing beside the TV. There is a big ass family picture hanging on the center of the room. The wall is made up of glass it’s so cool. It’s like walking straight to the Mission Impossible Hideout. The couches are white, the carpets are white, and the tiles are white. The furniture in this room is either white, glass, or mahogany.

“She’s okay I guess. I just got the news.” I answered him.

He nodded, pursing his lips for a second before speaking. “How’s your dad taking it?”

I groaned internally. My father is going crazy about it. I remember our phone conversation with the yolo and swag.

“Shocked.” I said sheepishly. “I don’t think he’s expecting it.”

Gabriel laughed, slapping a hand in his knee. “My god that bastard still has it.” He said, shaking his head and smiling widely. “Anyway, how about you?”

I gave him a confused look.

He rolled his eyes, drank his coffee, and then sets it down on the glass coffee table. “I mean, you’re going to be a big brother. How’s that feel?”

It was like that is the only time where the whole impact of the situation really hits me. I am going to be a big brother, and my unborn baby brother or sister and I’s age gap is going to be freaking 19 years! Scratch that, I’m turning 20 on December plus it will take 9 months for my mother before she gives birth so basically our age gap will be 20 years.

“Wow.” I mumbled, feeling my energy draining out of my body. 20 years age gap. Wow. I’m like old enough to have my own baby and my mother is still having a baby!

“Well, I can tell you can be a good one at it.” Gabriel cut me off from my thoughts. He is staring at me seriously. “Aria’s told me a lot about you. You seem pretty cool.”

Oh.

“She talks about me?” I asked disbelievingly.

With Tim, I completely understand that they are bitching about me, but with her dad? I think it’s a different thing.

“I hope you know how much my daughter likes you, Nathaniel.” He said, smiling sadly. “She’s my little girl. As much as I hate the time where she will have a real serious boyfriend, if it’s going to be you I’m cool with it.”

I honestly wasn’t expecting that. Is he giving me the approval sign already? I thought I need to pass some manly man interview first then testosterone sizing before I get the approval. And dammit he even figured out that Aria has my boxer, seriously how should a father think about that?

But he almost shot me earlier though...

“I haven’t asked her yet.” I admitted.

“What? I thought you two are dating already!” He seemed really surprised. I noticed that he has a thick Italian accent and whenever he is talking, there is an accompanying hand movement. Really italian-ish.

“We were just hanging out. I’m courting her.”

He flatly looked at me for a second before he burst into a fits of laughter.
