You Got The Part

Chapter 28

Rachel's POV

I have my audition for Wicked today. I'm beyond excited, but also terrified. I know the role I'm auditioning for isn't a major one, but it's still amazing. If I get the part, I'll be on stage with Broadway legends Kristen Chenoweth and Idina Menzel. No one can compare to them, besides Barbara of course. Barbara will forever be a legend.

I introduce myself to the panel that is judging my audition and begin singing my audition song, which I decided two days ago was going to be Don't Stop Believing by Journey.

Just a small town girl
Livin' in a lonely world
She took the midnight train goin' anywhere
Just a city boy
Born and raised in south Detroit
He took the midnight train goin' anywhere

A singer in a smoky room
A smell of wine and cheap perfume
For a smile they can share the night
It goes on and on, and on, and on

Strangers waiting
Up and down the boulevard
Their shadows searching in the night
Streetlights, people
Living just to find emotion
Hiding somewhere in the night

Working hard to get my fill
Everybody wants a thrill
Payin' anything to roll the dice
Just one more time
Some will win, some will lose
Some were born to sing the blues
Oh, the movie never ends
It goes on and on, and on, and on

Strangers waiting
Up and down the boulevard
Their shadows searching in the night
Streetlights, people
Living just to find emotion
Hiding somewhere in the night

Don't stop believin'
Hold on to the feelin'
Streetlights, people

Don't stop believin'
Hold on
Streetlights, people

Don't stop believin'
Hold on to the feelin'
Streetlights, people

I take a deep breath after my last note and smile brightly as I witness the panel giving me a standing ovation. A middle aged woman is the first one to speak up. "I think I speak for all of us when I say that you got the part. Congratulations Rachel! We'll email you tomorrow with rehearsal information." "Thank you so much!" I bow slightly and make my way off the stage.

Will approaches me out of a hidden corner. "I watched the audition. You were fantastic. I'm so happy for you Rachel!" I hug him tightly. "Thank you Will! I hope that you'll be in the audience cheering me on sometimes." He pecks me on the lips. "You can count it."
