Marriage
Chapter 40
Rachel's POV
Two months later...
After two months of waiting, I'm finally going to walk down the aisle today and get married. I'm terrified, but honestly so happy. I've been dreaming of my wedding since I was 4 years old and now it's happening. It feels like a dream.
Anyways, I think my dads are worried of me having a panic attack and flee from the church, but that isn't the case. I'm actually ready to walk down that aisle already. Like Will said, I don't want to spend another minute of my life not being married to him. I grab a hold of my dads' hands. "I'm ready." They smile and squeeze my hands as they begin guiding me down the aisle. The traditional wedding theme plays as everyone rises from their seats. They stare at me in awe and lust. It's quite flattering actually. Will on the other hand, looks like he's going to fall on his knees at any second. It's adorable, but also worrisome.
I grab a hold of his back gently to prevent him from falling. He mouths "You look so beautiful." I blush and mouth back "You look perfect." The priest rambles on for a couple minutes before telling us to exchange wedding vows. I go first. "Will, I bring myself to you today to share the rest of my life with you. I vow to be there for you always. To love you in good times and bad times. Yes that means even when we hate each other with every cell of our bodies." That comment manages to get some laughs out of the crowd. "Most importantly, I promise to support your hopes, dreams, and goals. I will be your anchor in the storm."
The priest nods and turns to Will, indicating that it's his turn. "I would just like to let everyone know that I am a really bad writer, so I ended up going online to get my vows. Though, I did make sure to find some that truly spoke to me and expressed my feelings in the best way possible." He takes a deep breath.
Rachel, I am so proud to take you as my wife.
For all the time we have been together, there has always been the kind of mutual understanding which is only shared when there is true love.
You have helped me triumph over challenges presented,
Encouraged my personal growth and boosted my self-esteem.
You have helped me become the person I am today,
And with your help, I will be a better person tomorrow than I was yesterday.I vow to trust and value your opinions, and stand by your actions.
I pledge to always treat you as my best friend and equal.
I will ask for help when I need it, and offer help to you always.
Let us be friends and lovers, and grow old disgracefully together.Tears form in my eyes. Even though he had to look up most of that online, it was will so heartfelt that it brought tears to my eyes. The pastor asks us if we take each other. We both say "I do" simultaneously. She smiles at us. "By the state of Ohio, I pronounce you husband and wife. You may now kiss." I smile into our first kiss as a married couple. Life truly couldn't be better.
