Chapter 21 Heartbreak

After getting home from the hospital, I've been a little jumpy. I mean I was beaten to a pulp for about five days straight but I guess that's a normal side affect. The therapist I have been seeing keeps telling Ash and everybody that I may never be the same again. Well I for one want to prove her wrong.

"We'll leave you to get cleaned up," My mom said walking over to hug me. I hugged her back.

"Thanks mom," I whispered to her. I let her go and noticed that she had tears in her eyes, "I'm okay mom,"

"No you are not okay, Nikki!" She exclaimed walking out of my room. I huffed in frustration and carried myself to the shower.

After my shower I pulled on a baggy sweatshirt and some comfy sweatpants. I walked downstairs to find Ash, and Felix talking in the couch.

"Nikki," Ash said standing up and walking to me. He pulled into a crushing hug, "how are you feeling,"

"Better. A lot better," I said pulling away from him. Felix was looking at his phone, "what's up Felix?"

He looked up at me and smiled, "the ice cream parlor is having a sale!" He said putting he's phone in his pocket, "it's decide we are going!" He exclaimed grabbing his keys.

I laughed at him and grabbed my shoes. We walked out the door to his car. I sat in the back seat with Felix, driving and Ash in the passenger seat.

We soon pulled up to the ice cream parlor, I got out and ran inside. Felix was laughing at me and Ash was just smiling.

"What do you want, Princess?" Ash said pulling out his wallet.

"Mint chocolate chip!" I said jumping up and down. He laughed at me and went up to order and Felix was following close behind him.

We all sat down in a booth, eating our ice cream, "so what happened Nikki?" Felix said breaking the silence.

"What do mean?" I said pushing the rest of my ice cream away from me.

"I mean with Sam," Felix said leaning in.

I shivered at the thought of seeing Sam ever again, "I-I can't," I said looking away from them. I felt a tear rush down my face.

"Hey, it's okay," Ash said wrapping his arms around me, "don't freak yourself out. You never have to see that lunatic ever again," I nodded at him.

"We should probably get you back home," Felix said.

We stood up  and walked out of the store. I followed behind Felix and Ash, when suddenly I felt a hand go over my mouth. I kicked and closed at the hand.

The person dragged me to an alleyway next to the ice cream parlor. I heard Ash's and Felix's screams of distress. The person threw me to a wall. I hit the ground and screamed in pain.

Ash and Felix rounded the corner and saw me. They both ran to me but instantly stopped when we heard a gun cock. I quickly stood up and looked behind me to see the person who dragged me.

That one mans who ruined my life and the life of my loved ones. Sam. He's cold, lifeless eyes started at me. He was all gross looking and looked like he was completely and utterly drunk.

"Well isn't this is lovely surprise?" He said pointing the gun at me.

"Sam, stop!" Ash said stepping towards him. He instantly stopped moving and put his hands up. Sam moved the gun back over to me.

"You ruined my life Ash, you took everything from me. So I'm taking the one thing that you care about most. Say goodbye to your precious Nikki Ever,"

"No Sam, STOP!" Ash yelled. I closed my eyes waiting for me to die

Then I heard the gun shot.

But I didn't feel any pain at all. I heard a body fall to the ground in front of me. I opened my eyes and saw....

Felix.

He was breathing heavily. I fell to the ground holding him in my arms. I saw that he got shot right in the heart, I placed my hands on the wound and pressed down on it. He hissed in pain.

"Nikki-," Felix said in a low voice.

"Shh, don't try and talk," I said moving a little bit of his hair out of his face, "you'll be fine. I promise,"

"No I won't Nikki. I'm dying and you know it," Felix said looking up at the sky, "did you know how much I loved you Nikki Ever?" He said looking back at me, "have you ever,"

"Yes. I have, you can't leave me Felix I need you in my life,"

"You'll survive Nikki, you'll live a full happy life. You'll get married, have a couple kids and everything will be happy,"

"But you won't be there,"

"I'll always be there, just promise me one thing," he said grabbing my hand

"What?"

"Never forget about me. I know that you've been through a lot, but you are a strong women Nikki. I need you to say strong for me Nikki, promise me,"

I blinked my tears away, "I promise,"

He said one last thing and he said it so softly I thought I miss heard him, "you'll always be my first love Nikki Ever,"

He took one last finally breath, closing his eyes. He stopped breathing. Everything froze I felt like my life just ended with him.

I held his head and just cried.

"I love you Felix, please come back! I need you! Don't do this to me," I yelled.

"Nikki we have to go!" Ash said running over to me

"No I'm net leaving him!" I yelled at him. Ash grabbed my arm and pulled me away from Felix lifeless body.

I felt numb.
