We arrived at Angela's friend's house and all I could hope for was that Dean and Eve had worked out whatever was going on with them two. If we wanted to figure this out, we would need them both on the same page. I just don't think they noticed yet how strong their feelings for one another can be.
We knocked on the door and a young man answered. The three of us told him we were grief counselors sent from the college.
"I didn't know the college employed grief counselors." He replied to us.
"Oh, yeah. Yeah you talk, we listen and maybe throw in a little therapeutic collage whatever helps the healing." Dean said to him.
"What my friend here is saying is that we are here to help you." Eve told him in a much more convincing voice.
"Well, I think I'm okay." He answered. "Thanks." He said as he turned to walk back into his house.
"Well you heard about what happened to Matt Harrison, right?" I asked stopping him from entering the house.
"Yeah, I did." He answered.
"We just wanted to make sure that you were okay." I said.
"Grief can make people do crazy things." Eve cut me off and said as if she was reading my own mind.
"Look I'm sorry about what happened to him. I am. But if Matt killed himself, it wasn't cause of grief." He told us.
"No? Then why?" Dean asked.
"It was guilt." He said.
"Angie's death was Matt's fault and he knew it." He told us.
"How was Matt responsible?" I asked.
"She really loved the guy, but the night of the accident, she walked in on him with another girl." He said.
I could not help but notice the huff Dean made and I could just feel Eve's eyes burning holes in the back of my head.
"She was really torn up. That's why she crashed." He finished.
"Um look I got to get ready for work, so thanks for your concern but, seriously, I'll be okay." He said before entering his house.
Once he was gone, Dean turned to look at me. We did not say anything until the three of us were out of hearing range and off his porch.
"Well my vengeful spirit theory is starting to make a little more sense. I mean, hell hath no fury." Dean said to us.
I looked over to Eve who was rolling her eyes.
"So if Angela got her revenge on Matt, you think it's over?" I asked.
"No." Eve answered.
We both looked at her for an explanation.
"If I was her I would not be done. That's all I'm saying. She caught him in the act, that means she knows who the other girl was. If I was her I would go after the girl too." Eve told us.
We both looked at her. I was not sure if she was rite but I was sure of the fact that I would never make her angry.
"There's only one way to be sure." Dean said to us as we all climbed into the car.
"Yeah." I said to him.
"What's that?" Eve asked.
"Burn the bones." Dean said.
"Burn the bones?" I asked in shock at what he was saying.
I looked back to Eve for support or just a sign that I did not hear him correctly but she was just nodding away. Like this was something they did every day. Burning dead people's bones.
