***Chapter 16***
I’m gonna pick up the pieces
And build a Lego House.
I heard the first lyrics of the song and I instantly wanted to shut it off. How awkward could this get. Then I realized it was coming from my phone. There was only one person I set that ringtone to. I pressed the answer button and put the phone to my ear. “Mum?”
“Drew!” She spoke through the phone happily. “Are you still in Florida? When are you going to come and visit me?”
“Mum, we’re in London now. The boys apparently had some music video to shoot, cutting our vacation short.” I told her.
I heard her scream on the other end of the line. I nearly went legally deaf.
Harry rose an eyebrow at me and I gave him my pointer finger, saying one minute.
“Mum, I’m kind of busy right now…”
“Ok, Drew, I’ll call you later. I just called to check on you.”
“I’m fine, I swear. Goodbye.” I said a little too quickly before hanging up. I turned to Harry.
“My mum is kind of a fangirl…” I told him.
“How old is she?” He responded cheekily, giving me a wink.
“Too old for you.” I told him, punching him on the arm lightly. I looked out the window to see that we were parked currently in front of a restaurant. I hadn’t even noticed the car stopped moving.
As I hopped out of the car, Harry came over to shut my door but I quickly shut the door, denying the gesture. He gave me a suspicious look but I just smiled awkwardly. We walked inside, meanwhile, his hand finding the small of my back, as it had been placed before. I tried not to get too irritated.
When we entered the sort of fancy facility I felt kind of underdressed. My outfit went perfect with the theme, though. It was a beach theme, I didn’t really catch the name of the resturaunt but I was guessing it was something cheesy and along those lines. This is why Harry must’ve picked this place over all. He knows I love the beach.
Harry was obviously stunned by how my reaction wasn’t the supposed collective gasp he was asking for. When he looked at me, I smiled, not wanting to make this any more awkward.
The hostess led us to a table in the middle of the resturaunt and I was glad of the location. Maybe Harry wouldn’t pull anything if we were surrounded by a bunch of people.
I looked through the menu and quickly ordered. I wasn’t really hungry at the moment, which was weird. I’m usually attacking the food like there is a million dollar prize for whoever eats it first.
“So,” I said, once the waitress whisked herself away to the kitchen. He looked at me, sincerity obvious in his eyes.
“I’m so sorry you don’t like it.” He said hopefully. I looked at him and smiled.
“No, I like it.” I said, smiling genuinely at him. I mean, he tried his best.
