***Chapter 17***
I woke up relatively early the next morning, considering I heard movement out in the hallway. I put my rats nest of hair into a messy bun and pulled an oversized sweatshirt over my head. I stepped out into the upstairs corridor to see all the boys running from room to room, attempting to get ready for some publicity thing.
I saw Niall run into Louis’s room, which was right next to his. I think Louis has his own room because he is the messiest. Liam and Zayn’s room was across the hall. I took cautious steps towards Louis's room, not knocking before entering.
To my advantage, the boys were all fully dressed and just sitting there getting their makeup done. Lou stood over Niall attempting to put some sort of foundation on, covering up any blemishes he had. I didn’t expect to see Lou for a long time, which I just figured out, was really dumb, because she was their stylist and was with them practically 24/7.
I waltzed into the room, crossing my arms over my chest in the process. I sat on the bed against the headboard next to Liam as he put his arm around me, me leaning into his chest in a friendly manor. Trust me, nothing’s going on between us.
“Good morning, girlfriend.” Harry spoke, coming out of Louis’s bathroom where I hadn’t realized he had been. I rolled my eyes and groaned.
“I am not your girlfriend.” I told him for the 72984563302nd time.
“Not according to the magazines…” Zayn said throwing me a brightly colored one. There was a picture of Harry and me kissing on the front cover. I looked up at Zayn in shock, but he only gave me his signature smirk.
“You’ve got to be joking…This was last night! They can’t already have a fucking article on it, can they?!” I asked them.
“They can and they do, love.” Liam told me. I looked up at the boy and sat straight up so I was facing him. “Read it.” Is all he said.
I flipped open the magazine, almost instantly finding the article about us. I read the head line: She’s Definitely Not Afraid! Really? They could do better than that.
“Drew McCarthy,” I read aloud. Is it just me or when you say your own name out loud it sounds weird. Anyway… “Niece of One Direction’s body guard and lead girl in One Direction’s She’s Not Afraid music video, is caught on a dreamy date with a hot boy bander. After Harry Styles, One Direction member, takes her on a beach themed date, they are caught locking lips in the parking lot. They were supposedly walking to their car when this daring girl takes a bold move and starts kissing Harry. Harry doesn’t hesitate before kissing back. But is there something more to Darry?” I drifted off, not wanting to read the next paragraphs. “This is bullshit.” I said throwing the magazine back at Zayn. “That’s not even close to what happened.”
“They don’t care about why it happened, just that it did. You kissed Harry.” Louis said smiling. I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms again, pulling away from Liam and standing up to leave. This was all bullshit.
“And what kind of ship name is ‘Darry’ anyway?” Lou said, speaking up for the first time since I’ve entered the room.
“I know, it’s like, Erm, excuse you, but we’re not part of the food pyramid, thank you very much.” I said rolling my eyes. All the boys started cracking up, Niall especially.
“Oh, Drew, love, you always knew how to make me smile.” Zayn said, purposely trying to get on my nerves.
“Shut up, Zayn.” I told him, not caring how rude I sounded. He immediately obeyed.
