I met Gerard at the hospital and I was really grateful he had came. I'm also really grateful that Alice is okay. She's perfectly okay. Her mother however, is not and that gives me full custody of her.
"Hi daddy!" She said and hugged my leg. Gerard smiled at her a little sadly. I looked at him and I could see that he had been crying. "Gerard." I whispered.
"It's okay Frankie, you've changed."
"Gerard I have a daughter." He nodded. "She's ours now Frankie." I smiled and hugged him. "Do you mean it?" He nodded. "Yes Frank I do."
"Daddy? Who this?" Alice asked from my leg. "This is your other daddy. Daddy Gee."
"Hi Daddy Gee!" She said happily. Gerard smiled at her, "Hi sweetie, what's your name?"
"Alice!" She giggled.
"Daddy, where's mommy?" It was a question she always asked, but this time I felt especially guilty and maybe it was due to the fact that my husband was standing next to me, or maybe because my poor little girl wouldn't have a mom. Whatever the reason it was I started crying which made me feel worse, because I didn't want Gerard to think I cared about her. I'm truly sorry she's gone, but that's only for my daughter, otherwise she doesn't affect my life in any way.
Gerard looked at me, "D-do you miss her?" I quickly shook my head.
"No! Of course not." He nodded. "Then why are you crying Frankie?"
"Because even though our daughter is going to be well raised by two men, she won't have a woman to go to. What if she has questions that she's too embarrassed to ask us and then she does something bad? What will we do?" He smiled and kissed my cheek. "We'll make sure she knows she can trust us always. Okay baby?" I nodded and he hugged me. "It's going to be okay Frank."
