Chapter 42- Get Your Head In The Game.

James' POV

Lilly and I were taking a stroll in the woods, hand in hand but now we were turning back to the cabins. We were discussing her and her past life before me.

"So what happened to your mother?" I asked. She sighed and looked away from me.

"She was the mate of Alpha Carlos' father, but he passed away giving the Alpha title to his son, Carlos. That's when everything went downhill for her because he locked her up and continually starved her for absolutely no reason. He would often beat her in front of me, just to show me who was the boss and---"

"So what were your connections with him?"

"He was....my boyfriend before I found out that my mom was with his dad. We weren't blood related though but because of the relationship with my mother and his father, I ended the relationship," I told him then continued from where I left off, "he didn't really take the break up well and that where he started to show more of his vicious side and well---"

"He didn’t hit you did he?" I asked with venom hanging from my words. She shook my head.

"No, he didn't but he had control over me. He would often trick me into having...sex with him because I know he would hurt my mother badly if I didn't. One day, I went and told one of the counsellors from the pack but all he did was turn his back at me. An old lady from behind the scenes had heard my story and completely believed it. She told me that I should defend myself or try to get another pack's help, but the forces against me were too powerful. Too intense to do anything about. I still kept seeing that woman though; she helped me realize that among the bad, you will always have some good."

"But then she was killed. The counsellor I had gone to had been lurking around me under the
Alpha's command and saw that I had lied to the Alpha, deceived him, and that I was having a secret meeting with her. Alpha Carlos took that very badly because, to him, whatever problem I was having, I should have came to him. He wanted us to have that kind of relationship again."

"So, he killed her?" I asked in disbelief. F*cking crazy Alpha. He didn't even deserve it from the way he was treating her.

"Yes, I didn't even get a chance to say I was sorry. I was out one day and when I came back, I told Alpha Carlos that I was going to see her, stupid of me to say but I did anyway...not wanting to anger him, but he just told me bluntly that she was dead and that he killed her so we could have more time together. Can you believe that's what he told me?" she asked rhetorically, "I mean how can you just say stuff like that so care freely?" I put my arms around her waist and she clung to my side. We were now approaching the grand field.

"So what happened after that?"

"Well there was this day when I had all hopes on high. A chief member of the council had been having some complaints about the leadership quality of Alpha Carlos---"

"You don't have to say 'Alpha Carlos' you know," I told her with a sad smile on my lips. She smiled back at me then looked down and apologized.

"Yeah, when the council came, Al...uhh...Carlos had told me to be on my best behaviour, but I just couldn't resist the mere temptation of help coming my way. I told them about the abuse and all the tricks he was playing. Of course the council didn't believe this at first, but then I brought them down to the cells underground and showed them all the unpleasant things being done to the captives. They were prisoners yes, but there was no rule that stated that you had to treat them that badly. In fact, most of them weren't even suppose to be down there. Normally you lock up a person for...theft, stealing, treason etc. but he locked up a person for merely disagreeing with his terms. Its like we were under strict dictatorship." By now we had arrived on the camp fire site. No one was out here except us, probably all at lunch. It was about four thirty now though.
