Chapter 12- Totally Unexpected

Hayden's POV

When we got downstairs, we saw my best men along with a crowd at the front door.

 "What the hell is going on?" I asked angrily. Apparently, these people do not want me to mark my mate and be in peace. Everyone turned to look at me but no one answered me. I growled impatiently.

 "What the hell is..?" I said but trailed off when I saw who was at the door. Standing at the door was none other than Bryon, Alpha of the Redwood Pack.

 "Is this how you treat your best friend, Pierce?" Bryon asked with sarcasm. I rolled my eyes at him and patted him on the shoulder.

 "Sorry man, we're kind of tight on security measures right now," I said and then looked back at the men behind him, "you guys can go." Both men nodded and then started walking down the pathway.

 "Hey, what happened to Tom and Lloyd? I loved those guys man, at least they knew me," Bryon said. My eyes turned pitch-black at the memory of those bastards who dared to hurt my mate.

 "They were fired," I explained. Bryon looked at me with confusion.

 "Fired? The reason being..." he said and then trailed off. I shrugged it off and ignored him. Then I walked back up to Zara. Man, that's a beautiful name. It's unique and fits her perfectly. I saw Bryon's eyes land on her and then he raised his eyebrow and looked at me.

 "Hey, who's the pretty face?" he asked. He walked up to her and stuck out his hand.

 "The name's Bryon," he introduced. Zara rolled her eyes.

 "What's with the Alpha's around here and the 'bad boy' attitude," she said but shook his hand anyway. He laughed at her.

 "It's a thing that comes with the power, babe," he answered.

 "Alright, one don't call me babe, because that's not the name I was given. It's Zara, got it?" she said. Bryon raised his eyebrow at her, then turned to me and then back to her.

 "Your Hayden's mate, aren't you?" he asked. How the hell did everyone know that I had a mate? Zara nodded after she glanced at me, "well, this is gonna be fun." She looked at him confused.

 "What's gonna be fun?" she asked. He smirked at her and then looked at me. I raised my eyebrow at him waiting for his reply.

 "It'll be fun 'cause you'll straighten him out," he replied to her, "she's feisty, I like it," he said to me. I laughed while Zara just rolled her eyes.

 "Alright, everybody, you guys know when I'm here, what happens," Bryon announced, "GAME NIGHT!"

 "You got own!" Zara screamed as she threw the controller down on the couch.

 "How the hell could you beat Bryon?" James asked his arms wrapped around Lilly. She smiled mischievously.

 "Because I am the best," she responded. Bryon grunted and threw down his controller.

 "Beginner's luck," he muttered. Zara rolled her eyes.
