Two weeks later...

Mystery Girl's POV

My fingers slowly went across the folded page before me. It was a letter from him. This could change everything. The last time I got one of his letters, my mother and I were captured. I was too terrified to open it though. It would mean I would have to leave. My new family. My new home. My mate. I'd end up having to leave because he would kill them all. 

"You can do this," I breathed out then opened the letter.

My Hazel Eyed Beauty,

   I have taken the time to write this letter for you to inform you that your mother is safe. Well, for the time being. She is going to die slowly, painfully but you have the chance to save her life, just as long as you follow my carefully planned out instructions. You hear that beautiful, carefully planned out so don't even think about bringing anyone else with you. I require information that only you can give me. In exactly three days, you will come to the abandoned furniture factory, exactly four blocks from the pack house, at six p.m. sharp. I will know if you are to bring anyone, love, and if you do...

Your mother will have her dying breath in my arms.

By the time I was finish reading, tears welled up in my eyes. I can't believe he would do something like this. I would tell my mate, but things would end badly for my mother. I shoved the letter in my back pocket and ran to the bathroom.

           'Baby, are you ok?' my loving mate's voice came through the mind link. I froze and thought over the simple words that I was going to tell him. I really hate lying to him but...

             'I'm fine, baby. Just watching a movie and it made me sad,'

             'You're so silly. Ok baby,' 

I really hate doing this but I know in the end, I would have ended up saving them both. I couldn't bear to let anything happen to either of them.

Zara's POV

  I don't know whether to be happy or sad that Hayden hasn't tried anything sexual with me in the last two weeks. From that moment that I freaked out, he's been keeping his distance. Sure he would smile and laugh with me and the others, but it didn't reach his eyes. I knew his wolf was suffering from me not wanting to continue the mating process but...I...I don't know, I just can't get over him. He scarred me for life.

"What's up?" Natalya asked as she sat beside me at the cafeteria table. Hayden and Bryon had gone to the front to get some food for us. The Midnight Shadows pack wasn't in today because they were officially going to sign in Maddison as Luna of the pack. 

I sighed, "Nothing Natalya."

"You really expect me to believe that?" she asked me quietly.

"I don't know, it's just...Hayden and I can't complete the mating process but I know he wants to," I told her.
