After dinner I find myself being banished to my bedroom along with my two roommates.
"It's 9pm, he seriously can't be going to sleep can he?" Sawyer exclaims as we all sit on Alexa's bed looking through the pictures on her phone that she took of all the 'potential' here; whatever that means.
"I don't know, I might have to join him in a minute. I'm exhausted." I groan. The girls immediately start laughing. "Oh my god no. Not like that obviously!" I say joining in with the joke.
"Mr Newman is definitely not on the list of hotties" Alexa exclaims.
"And who is?" I roll my eyes. Growing up with 7 boys has made me practically immune to the 'potential hotness' of anyone. I see the burping, farting, snoring side of boys that no girl should ever have to witness.
"Your brother for starters" She smirks.
"She's not wrong" Sawyer laughs as Alexa flicks to a picture of Isaac looking up at her as he drinks from the straw in his diet cola. They both instantly go all heart eyes emoji at the sight of him, making me want to throw up slightly. I roll off the bed and move over to the ancient full length mirror. I look in the mirror at myself as they talk about my brother.
"Seriously Luna, how can you not want to just... urgh" Alexa says running a hand through her hair.
"Because he's my twin brother and that's gross. I shared a womb with that mop head." I explain.
"Cute mop head" Sawyer smirks.
"Don't tell me you're into him again?" I roll my eyes.
"Well-" she starts but a knock on the door cuts her off. Seconds later the boy in question appears. I watch in the reflection as Alexa checks her hair and Sawyer straightens her shirt.
"Hey girls" Isaac smiles at them, drawing them both in even more than they previously were. "Hey dork" He beams at me. I pout at him making him feel bad thus pulling me into a tight hug. Out of all of my siblings, I'm definitely closest with Saac. FYI, he makes me call him 'Saac' because he thinks it's cool and maybe it'll catch on at school. It's not and it won't.
"What are you after?" I say as he lets me go.
"Can I not just come to see my beautiful sister and her gorgeous friends?" He gives a boyish smile showing off his infamous dimple as the girls both swoon.
"You always have an ulterior motive." I raise my eyebrow.
"Well I came for two reasons. 1. For the clothes you wore over the boarder and melted inside of and 2. To invite you to a little shin dig in my room later on."
"So I assume the 'lad' having the gathering isn't you and isn't Jack because neither of you are 'lad' material."
"Cameron. Our roommate. He's kind of new in school- a transfer from another local school near ours. He wants to get to know some people and I thought hey, why not get to know my favourite person and you and Alexa." He teases. I watch again as Sawyer nearly passes out at his words.
"Hey! I'm your favourite person" I exclaim.
"Yeah but I haven't made out with you" He says with a shake of his curls. He waltzes over to Sawyer, sitting next to her wrapping his arm around her shoulder. She lets out a giggle like the 7th grader I remember her to be.
"So what time do you want us?" I ask, looking back in the mirror. I stare at my face until the rest of my body blurs out. Isaac's face stares back at me. This 'trips me out every time' as he would say.
"Now?" He smirks.
"Eh" I shrug. I really can't be bothered to be sociable right now.
"If you come then I'll let you sleep in that shirt that I stole back from you"
"You brought that just so that you can bully me with it didn't you?" I laugh, referring to the jersey that Charlie gave Isaac 3 years ago but I stole from him to wear to bed. "That should be mine anyway. I beat you in that wrestling match fair and square."
"You pretended to cry so that I'd ease up just so you could fling me over and sit on top of me for the 3 seconds." He shakes his head with laughter.
"You guys are the cutest" Sawyer squeals as I grab my brother in a head lock as pay back for my earlier brain cell loss. Seconds later I find myself being flung over his shoulder as he heads to his room.
"Are you coming?" He says taking a step back to urge the girls to follow. As if he even needs to ask. He has them both wrapped around his little finger. He leads me kicking and screaming into his room which is attached to ours at the opposite end of the corridor to Mr Newman's room. I'm convinced that his room is actually on the floor below us but Isaac has persuaded me otherwise.
"Who's the cutie with the booty?" I hear an unfamiliar voice say.
"Cameron" Isaac starts, placing me on the floor. I straighten out my riding vest top so that my abdomen is covered once again and run a hand through my messy blonde hair. "This is Luna Eclipse"
"Shut up Isaac" I say punching my twin a little harder than I intended to. "It's just Luna." I say holding my hand out towards the tall, tan, brunette boy before me. I know I said that I'm immune to hot boys but damn, this boy is cute to say the least. Alexa and Sawyer will surely be falling head over heels for him too.
"Well that's a uniquely beautiful name." Cameron smiles showing off his brilliant white teeth. "I'm Cameron. Cameron Dallas."
"Well Cameron, Cameron Dallas, what brings you here to Minnesota with my crappy little school?" I say glancing at my appearance in the full length mirror that is identical to the one in our room.
"Well it's not the teaching staff that's for sure" He says with a laugh.
"Yeah... Newbie isn't exactly a prime example of the teachers at school"
"Newbie? Is that what you call him?"
"Oh it's not just me. The entire student body does." I shrug.
"Will you stop talking about school all the time Luna? We're on vacation. It's time to turn up." Isaac groans, flopping backwards onto the bed which I assume is his judging by how messy it already is.
"Shush dork" I jump on top of him, winding him in the process.
"Sometimes I wish you didn't have 7 brothers... you're such a boy" He groans between trying to catch his breath.
"You have 7 brothers?" Cameron exclaims. Obviously he isn't aware of my 'passed down' status around school. My family is the sporting family. The family that are instantly good at everything they try their hand at. The family that are loyal and polite and always stand up for what they believe in. I guess you could say I have big shoes to fill.
"I do indeed. This dork happens to be one of them." I say gesturing towards Saac, brushing my hand through his golden brown curls.
"Wait, you're siblings? I though you were dat-"
"Ew" I interject, not letting him finish his sentence. "We're twins" I say using one hand to push back all of Isaac's hair and the other to push back my own. "See? Identical."
"I thought that was impossible" Cameron says raising an eyebrow in confusion. He stands to get closer to us. "That's kind of creepy."
"It's a blessing and a curse" I shrug letting both of our hair flop into our eyes.
"At least you look like me and not some complete ugly" Isaac shrugs.
"I think you'll find that you look like me. I am older." I say sassily.
"This conversation is pointless. You both look like each other." Jack says cutting off our argument.
"You're lucky he cut you off because I was about to call for a wrestling rematch" Isaac laughs walking over to the door.
"Now where are you going?" I roll my eyes.
"To get this party started. Duh"
