Jazmine sat at the head of the bed her knees in her chest, leaning back on a propped up pillow. Tae continued laying on her stomach, she had originally come in to watch the movie with Tae but slowly the movie became background noise to the small off and on conversation the two women were having.
"So did you text or call him." Jazmine asked still looking at the tv.
"I'm going to, I thought about it before you came in, but then I..... I don't know, I just don't want an argument." Tae said back, she too continued laying in her same position talking but remained looking at the large flatscreen mounted on the wall
"Well, how do you know......." Jazmine was interrupted by her doorbell, she turned to the door of the room for a moment then turned her head back to Tae, who was comfortable laying in the spot as if she didn't hear the bell. She smacked her lips and frowned at Tae
"Oh, don't get up, I'll get it." Jazmine said with an attitude rolling her eyes as she threw her legs over the side of the bed standing up.
"Well, It's your bell ...... and door!" Tae said back casually not turning to Jazmine and remaining in the same spot.
Jazmine rolled her eyes again as she walked down the steps, she turned on the front porch light and stood on her tippy toes as she looked through the peephole. Drake's tall broad frame stood in all black she watched as he adjusted his hat turning the brim of it forward. Her eyes widened and her mouth opened. As she pulled the door open.
"Good evening Jazmine." Drake said with a warm smile.
"Boy, what are you doing here!?" Jazmine said surprised as she pulled Drake into the house by the arm. "It's midnight! You know you can't be walking around this rich white neighborhood in all black like that! They gone think you stealin." She said as she looked around outside to make sure no one saw him. "You know rich white people quick to call the cops to a neighborhood, especially when some black people move in." Jazmine continued as she closed the door and locked it. "But then again you real light skin so you might pass." She said turning to look up at him. Drake laughed at Jazmine's humor shaking his head. He pulled her into a warm hug greeting her.
"What are you doing here?" She said as she pulled away from him.
"Came to talk to Tae... Hopefully she'll come back." Drake said answering her question, Jazmine smiled at Drake.
"Bout damn time, what took you so long?!" Jazmine said hitting him in the arm.
"She didn't tell me where she was, she just said she was safe and that was it." He said bad shaking his head. Jazmine frowned at Drake her face then turned sad for him.
"Wait here, I'll be bad." She said back turning her back to him and running up the steps. She ran through the open door of the guest bedroom Tae was staying in. She was still laying across the bed all her attention was on the tv.
"GIIIRRRLLL! Guess what!?!" She yelled to Tae point at the door.
"What?" Tae said back casually her attention still on the tv. Jazmine grabbed the remote from the bed turning the tv off. "OH, yea, cuz I wasn't watching that at all."
"Girl! Drake is at my front door! The man done google mapped my house and pulled up on ya!" Jazmine barked at Tae, she sat up on the bed in confusion.
"What!? Google map? What are you talking about!?" Tae said as her face twisted up.
"Yo ass wasn't answering them text messages and phone calls so yo man pulled up on you! Surprise bitch!" Jazmine said with an amused look on her face.
"....shit!" Tae said back as she hopped off the bed running down the hall, she stopped as she saw Drake standing there. His phone in his hand as his thumbs scrolled across the screen. Her stomach began to tingle at the sight of him, she slowly walked down the steps trying to remain calm and quiet. As Drake felt someone's presence he looked up from his phone and met Tae eyes, the tingling in her stomach got stronger and trailed to her pelvic. He placed his phone in his sweat pants pocket as he watched her walk down the rest of the steps.
"What are you doing here?" She said as she stood an arm's length away from him, her face remained calm and unamused.
"Miss you too." He said back mocking her, he stepped closer to her placing his large warm hand on her waist and pulling her to him, her body grew tense at his touch and goosebumps covered her arms as she heard his deep voice fill her ears for the first time in three days. "Come here." He said firmly but remained calm his voice staying quiet.
She did as she was told and took a step closer to him, He pulled her into a deep hug wrapping his arms around her waist, her small body sunk into his as she breathed in his cologne. She tried her hardest to not wrap her arms around his neck but failed, Drake's face went into the crook of her neck as he kissed it softly she let out a small moan, but then quickly removed her arms from around his neck and placed them on his chest.
"Aubrey....." She said softly trying to get his attention, she felt his body tense at the sound of her saying his name. His eyes closed. "Aubrey." She said again.
"Yea." He finally answered her but didn't pull away from her, he continued to smell her hair as his face remained in the crook of her neck, the short tamed hairs of his beard tickled her neck when he spoke.
"What are you doing here." She asked again, he remained in his position for a few seconds longer, the finally pulled from her.
"I came to bring you back home." He said looking her in the eyes. "I apologize for the way I grabbed you, it won't happen again. I understand there's more that we need to speak about, but I want you to know I am sorry." Drake stopped speaking and pulled away from Tae, he turned and walked into the living room sitting down on the couch, his head went down into his hands as he pulled his off, then placed it back on his head. Tae watched him from a distance. He leaned back and crossed his leg over the other, his hand went on his chin as he stroked his short beard.
Tae slowly walked over to him and sat down on the table that was placed in the center of the floor. She looked at him in curiosity as to why he stopped talking but she didn't say anything. "There are certain things that you've showed me about myself, these things have always been there, but you are the one that finally brought them to the surface." Drake stopped speaking for a moment, then finally turned his head facing Tae. "I can't.....lose you." Drake said looking Tae in the eyes.
Tae felt her eyes begin to swell up she stood up and sat next to him facing him, sitting on both her knees, she grabbed his face pulling him forward, she pecked his lips three times, but was pulled in by him for a longer kiss, his hand wrapped around her waist as he squeezed her. "I love you, ok." He mumbled as his mouth was pressed against hers. Tae smiled through the kiss as she stroked the short hairs of his beard. "Love you too."
